1:00 shows the comparison between BaiZhu and HuTao's different belief in life and death. He wanted to be immortal not for himself, but for many others. He would use his lifetime to help those who needed. He's too greedy, he wanted to save everyone, but there's no such a way. He said, “even after so long, after so many time, I'm still not used to death.” He said, “if there was a way to save someone, and I know it, there should be no reason for me not to do it.” BaiZhu values life, Even if there was one possibility to save a life, he would do it no matter the cost. ...BaiZhu is a good doctor.

"What is the sole duty of a doctor? Promote life? Extend it? Remove all forms of pain and suffering? Or are we just...prolonging the inevitable passing? I use to discuss or debate this with Ms. Hu Tao and she would banter on the topic. 'it is the cycle of life and death. That is an axiom no one can deny' she said. At first I'd give her a very slight chuckle because I thought she'd joke about getting more customers for her funeral parlor. But lately she's been rather serious about it. I haven't seen her like this. So... Vulnerable. She held this concept of life and death with the highest respect and guide lost souls to the afterlife. And that made me think for a long while. Am I just tampering with this cycle? No. Life and death are two sides of the same coin. I knew this when I made my contract with Chang Sheng. Prolonging life is not extending the suffering of my patients. When I absorb their sickness in exchange for my life force, I only want them spend a little more time with their loved ones. That is the promise I made."

My translation: A doctor’s benevolence in the mortal world is melancholy, wishing only for an end to disease In a sandalwood box, a prescription is created from dust, but life and death have their own fate Why do we keep the concern of the world on our hearts? I asked the South star Let the flowers bloom and wilt, and the shadows of the trees be dappled Soon, the fog will dissipate To a doctor, life is very valuable, worth a thousand pieces of gold, this is the way of medicine In the distant mountain, a temple bell bitterly tolls for the vicissitudes of life and death Not crossing yesterday's cold water, the cuckoo cries out like a sorrowful friend Half a lifetime of storms weary a doctor’s heart The world changes; deep seas transform into fields of mulberry trees, but for mountains and rivers, they say that all places are home One day, I pondered upon an old friend, as we watched the clouds return at sunset The wind blows over my brow, and I briefly watch children sing ballads from my youth In retrospect, I sigh at a lifetime of wrongs, while the light streams away endlessly Btw, the lyrics were adapted from another song called 故人叹

*Lyrics* (not sure if it's completely accurate i failed my own language lol ): All doctors in the moral world, humanity is sad, as they only wish for no diseases Using a box made from sandalwood, prescriptions born from dust, there is fate in both life and death Why do we feel the need to concern for the entire world? I asked the southern star Just let the flowers bloom and wither, the shadows of the trees mottled, the fog will soon fully scatter As a doctor, the life of a person, is worth more than a thousand gold, this is the principle of a medic Far away on the mountain the bell of a temple mournfully rings, on behalf of the living and dying plants Couldn't cross the icy river yesterday, cuckoos sadly cawing, as if someone's crying Half a lifetime's storm tires a doctor's life and heart *Opera* (love this part) The sea changes, as well as the fields, carrying mountains and rivers referring them as homes One day, reminded, when i enjoyed the dusk with an old friend The wind blows, across my brows, as i listen to the children singing my childhood songs Looking back, i was wrong, sighs at the darkness in my life As a doctor, the life of a person, is worth more than a thousand gold, this is the principle of a medic Far away on the mountain the bell of a temple mournfully rings, on behalf of the living and dying plants Couldn't cross the icy river yesterday, cuckoos sadly cawing, as if someone's crying Half a lifetime's storm tires a doctor's life and heart As a doctor, the life of a person, is worth more than a thousand gold, this is the principle of a medic Far away on the mountain the bell of a temple mournfully rings, on behalf of the living and dying plants Couldn't cross the icy river yesterday, cuckoos sadly cawing, as if someone's crying Half a lifetime's storm tires a doctor's life and heart...
