Just in case you missed the previous installment of the FL road trip, I'll link it here https://youtu.be/NV1MFa_WaoI

I’m willing to live in a sleepy town in exchange for low crime and safety! It’s a beautiful small town
-
He does not know what he’s talking about I live here and it’s a great town and worth every bit
-
Astonishing video! :) I loved every second of it! :)
-
Michael I think you are wrong about this town It’s quite nice and less tourist Plus very reasonable
-
I was there last weekend, stayed on the beach at an older style motel for 150.00 a night. Flagler Ave. is the touristy area with the restaurants, bars, shops ect...
-
The reason it’s so expensive is because it’s where people from Orlando go to get away. They go because there is no nightlife, no hustle and bustle. It’s a great place to go to get out of the city and it’s an hour away.

$300-$400 / night for a hotel there? That’s crazy!! 😳
-
Looks like a cute little town. I hope to visit eventually. Was funny to hear you mention Cherry Valley. I knew you were from Illinois but didn’t know where. I grew up in Rockford so I know that area well!

Your completely wrong about New Smyrna. You missed so many things that make this town fun and interesting. We have over a 100 festivals a year, a monthly car shows that pulls in 300 cars down canal st., wine walk every 4th Saturday, craft beer fest every 1st. Saturday. A Christmas parade that's is over an hour and half long. Great restaurants, surfing. Our art community is one of the best. Sorry but you missed the mark on this one.

Nice report. Although the town is small and doesn't have a whole lot to offer, this was still our favorite town we visited in Florida. St. Augustine may have more to offer, but it's very commercialized and touristy. While New Smyrna on the other hand was more friendly and laid back and had a very authentic Floridian vibe. That being said, I'm not so sure if I'd wanna stay there, as all the sites can be visited within an hour, but if you're traveling or staying in the area, it's definitely worth stopping for an hour or two, to visit the ruins and the colorful streets and businesses.

Love this place, ill be there in June

$400 a night! LOL I'm pulling $12 a night in my condo, within ear shot of the Kennedy Space Center, rockets be waking my ass up at 3 am.

Fantastic video! Added driving on the beach to my list of things to do (: Thanks!

Another great and informative tour... Thanks mike

Really like the small town vibes of New Smyna. Beautiful little beach town. But, we like a little nightlife so I don't think we'll be staying there for an overnight trip. Would like to visit during the day, and or course, drive on the beach!

Great vid! It is nice to get your account of the different beaches. I am hoping to visit FL within the year and sort of "plotting out" the places I would like to stay. Great to know this location would be best for a short visit vs staying multiple nights!

Nice place visiting Michael 😉

Thanks for sharing.... Yes, it did look a little sleepy.

My family goes there almost every summer for 7-10 days and there's plenty to do. But we go for the beach and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Rent a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo ocean front for approx 200-275 per night. No cars on the beach, that's allowed in a limited area. There's a few very good restaurants, but it's a small town and fewer options. Summertime is prime time in NSB and it does get busy, but it's not obnoxious like Naples, Marco (winter season), and plenty of other locations in Florida (i live in SW Florida). Regarding the sharks. yes they are there and we see them when boogie boarding or just swimming. If you're swimming in Florida waters, there are sharks in the area period. If you need more action perhaps its not the place for you.
