Because of BlaBlaBla, I haven't been able to access this account's admin for years. Now that I suddenly can again, I want to thank everybody for staying their best selves in the comments section. You folks give me what little hope I have. BTW, off speed for 35 years, dry for 25. Both times solo flights; nobody around to help. I'm living proof that it can be done.

(Nov 2017): This clip has become a kind of an online gathering place/support community for my fellow recovering-everythings, and those who want to recover but arenโ€™t quite there yet. I see people reach out, but YT makes it very difficult for direct connections to be made. If you make a connection in the comments, and I receive a request from both parties at [email protected] , Iโ€™ll be happy to put you in touch with each other. We're all in this together, even as we work on our own progress.

Cash pulls no punches with this song, written by Lew Dewitt of the Statler Brothers, about a subject Cash was all too familiar with himself--and the performance is unflinching and straight from the heart. From January 6, 1971. Thanks to gf530 for getting me the correct intel on this tune, and to Michael Lamont for suggesting edits in my remarks about the clip.

I am sober today. I still listen to this song. It reminds me of what awaits me if I make a bad choice. Even though being sober is difficult and can be boring it's still better than being sick and suffering.
