Finally…common sense about jumpsuits….yes, they’re cute, but definitely not anywhere you may need to use the restroom! I try to dress on a plane as though I may have to exit down the emergency chute. You want closed toed shoes, natural fabrics, etc. You also need to think about and unexpected layover. An outfit that works for a 1-2 hour flight may be awful if you have to sit in an airport all day. As soon as you greet the flight attendants, they are evaluating you. If the flight is overbooked you could be moved up to business or first class if you look and act like you belong there.
  • Lived in New York and worked in Manhattan for many years. Your comment of women at the airport wearing sneakers brought me back to the 70’s. My “commuting shoes” to and from work were sneakers. No way to survive the subway rush, the street ground metal grills and the rushing and the running except with wearing comfortable sneakers. To this day, this is the Big Apple’s “statement wardrobe piece” of the NYC working women. At the office, kept 3 pairs of high heel shoes (black/brown/navy) to change to. Come quitting time, it was back to the sneakers and shoes back into the bottom of the desk drawer. This “fashion” has endured throughout the years. Still today, NYC streets are filled with professional women wearing business suit and their trusted companion - a pair of sneakers. Your comment brought memories and smiles to my face. (Forgot: we also kept hosiery in our desk drawers - companies required women to wear hose as part of their dress code). Thanks for the memories! ❤ Sonia - California

Great video with lots of terrific suggestions. I always wear Tencel joggers (with pockets) on flights. Super comfy, wrinkle-free, can be dressed up at destination, etc. Wide-leg pants and maxi-dresses can drag on the floor when sitting at the gate and on the plane. That’s the same gross floor we avoided in bare feet when going thru security. Wet areas (yes, even body fluids) on aircraft are “cleaned up” with absorbent powders so residue remains and I don’t want my clothes to touch those surfaces. Not to mention dealing with all that fabric in public restrooms. I’ll stick to elastic around my ankles to make it easier to avoid potential yuk.
  • I agree 100% with all the outfits you’ve chosen for travel. I would wear (and have worn!) every choice you showcased. Even though I’m older (64), I find your content fun and refreshing, and I relate to all of your fun videos! Thank you for all your hard work and your outstanding content. ❤️

I love maxi dresses for travel. So comfy, easy to pack, goes with a cardigan or denim jacket. We are on the same wavelength.
  • Good advise with the exception of the maxi dress that can drag on the floor when you are sited, touch the gross lavatory floor when using the toilet and can easily get caught on things as you walk down the aisle in the plane.

I have my travel uniform. Quick dry yoga pants that look like nice black pants. A black lightweight utility jacket. A colorful tank top. 2 things that learned to never wear traveling. Dress of any length. I was in a car accident hanging upside down for over an hour while they cut out. So glad my panties weren’t showing. And flip-flops in the winter. Came back from Cancun to 2 1/2 feet of snow and I had to walk a half a mile to home I’m running to Walmart to get those shoes. Thanks for all your suggestions
  • The joggers and soft layers are a wonderful idea! I often wear soft jeans and a denim jacket on flights. The jacket is comfortable to me, has pockets and folds up small in my under the seat bag if necessary. I once left my nicely broken in denim jacket at an airport. No doubt someone else is enjoying it now. I was not a happy flyer 😢. I’m guilty of slip on tennis shoes too 🤷🏻‍♀️ The long dress is pretty but a hard no for most forms of travel.

My favorite travel pants are from Athleta, the Trekkie joggers. They are comfortable for plane travel, don’t wrinkle, and can be worn very casual or slightly less so. The Brooklyn pants are great too if you want something more dressy. In black they both travel well and can be worn multiple times. Add a similar color tank top and you have your first jumpsuit! And it may be me, but the thought of a maxi dress in a plane bathroom is killing me 😂😂. Germaphobe here, give me jogger bottoms please!
  • @sylly654
I clicked on this SO fast! There is definitely a need for travel outfit videos. I will be traveling to Europe from California next summer - total flight with layover will be 15 to 17 hours. I will need to be comfortable, but do not want to look like a slob 😬
  • Hi Marnie. Thanks so much for all of the great ravel ideas. I too will be travelling in a few weeks, for a weekend wedding. So helpful. Thanks!
  • Thanks for the recommendation about Rails. I just snatched one at DFWH for under $10. Very soft and well constructed.
  • Thank you for this video! I haven't flown in 4 yrs! You are so helpful in knowing what to wear. My daughter is getting married in October at a venue in the desert of LV!!
  • @melbraks9142
Perfect timing for me as we have a road trip in a couple of weeks. Thank you! Lots of great ideas. I ordered the maxi dress in the store last week as my regular size was too long. I wanted the option of wearing it with flats or sneakers. I love the look of maxi dresses but I find them hard to find at 5’2” and being curvy but this one seemed to work. It will work well for work too.
  • @lydiakilby375
I can totally relate about not wanting anything touching me or vice versa during airline travel. I also hate taking my shoes off going through TSA!! Thanks for these tips!
  • Heading to Ireland in October, definitely wearing zip-up boots I can hike in and take on off/easy, breathable lulu wundertrain leggings, and layers of warm clothes that are bulky to save space in my carry on/duffel I’m traveling with for 10 days. And my trusty Rothy’s if the boots get too warm, they are so comfy and washable!
  • Aaahhh! Marnie, I’m a neat freak and feel just like you on airplanes! Barely fly anymore. I have NO CLUE what happens to those seats between flights. 😫 I’d like to wear those paper jumpsuits over my clothes, including a HOOD! LOL! (Take it off and throw it away.)
  • Yes Rails shirts are awesome … I have found a Walmart shirt somewhat similar..No Boundaries brand plaid shirt… size up 2 zsizes… I bought the white/ black plaid one to go with white jeans now or in fall♥️
  • HI Marnie, your makeup looks fabulous today! Thanks for all you do - I so appreciate your style of communication, as well as, well, lol, you're style!
