Police say they’ve apprehended a man who was sought after in a string of robberies, including this smash-and-grab incident in the Bronx. The NYPD says in this incident, he smashed the front window of a jewelry store, then reached in and started grabbing the merchandise on display. Meanwhile another man held a bag that the first man kept stuffing with his loot. The store was open at the time and someone inside tried to lower the mechanical gate. • Stealing has turned into a sport at this point, it’s crazy what our world is turning into

If anyone tried to stop them, they'd probably be arrested even faster than the actual criminals.

I’m surprised the store owner didn’t get sued over injuries sustained by the thieves when the gate was lowered.

I feel so bad for these people having to deal with crooks like this.
  • @Joseph-wh5of
This is crazy thieves have become quite bold. To use a large sledgehammer in broad daylight to break a window is just baffling.
  • @STELLASCUTENESS
Glorification of theft, violence, and disrespect of the rule of law……..well, you know the cause.

If he's strong enough to do that he's strong enough to get a fkn job.
  • @flatt585
I’m glad he’s been caught. Unfortunately he will probably just get probation. These lenient laws make you wonder If they’re incentivizing this kind behavior.

Imagine trying to rob a jewelery store and being incapable of properly covering your face.
  • @WvlfCvlt
Replacing the gate with an oversized guilitine might do the trick!
  • IF ONLY HE WOULD PUT THIS MUCH EFFORT INTO ACTUALLY GETTING A REAL JOB

They need to bring back " When the looting starts, the shooting starts" is a phrase originally used by Walter E. Headley, the police chief of Miami, Florida, in response to an outbreak of violent crime during the 1967. I bet you this will stop in a hurry

The biggest problem is that thieves have too many rights. I manage a store, we got hit “$4,000” I followed the thieves without them noticing, grabbed the license plate, with that I recognized the actual register owner which was one of the thieves and the detective in charge couldn’t arrest the guy. It’s been 6 months and I haven’t received an update. SMH
  • People become bolder about doing things like this because the justice system is too lenient on them.
  • I want to commend all the wonderful parents in the U.S. for doing such a great job on "training up your children in the way they should go."
  • Barbaric! I was a Silversmith and jeweler for a few years. So many of my friends in the trade got out of it because it is such a magnet for criminals. They come by one day trying to hawk stolen items, then come back and try to break in.
