Hey everyone this concept acoustic guitar is called the Stacoustic AKA "The Stac". Drawing inspiration from velocity stacks on race cars and the Tornavoz found on some classical guitars, protruding from the upper bout we have three resonant ports of different diameters and lengths all tuned to well under what the low E string is resonating at. The intention is not creating more bass, but to influence harmonic overtones and see what kind of character we can get out of this guitar. The end result is,,, it sounds like a guitar.
Forgive my playing towards the end of the video, I am not much of a guitarist.

Some specs:
Graph Tech RATIO tuning machines
Graph Tech saddle and nut
Graph Tech bridge pins
Jescar EVO Gold fretwire
25.5 to 26.5 multi-scale maple fretboard
Double action truss rod
Maple bridge
Black spruce top
Birch back and sides
Birds eye maple neck
Spruce bracing, birch bridge patch

Playing a guitar that you created is probably one of the most satisfying things in the world. I cannot tell how this unique design contributes to the sound of this guitar, but it's beautiful for sure.

this man hand carved and carefully contoured the damn hidden underside braces.
  • Listening to this song makes me want some Tweeks Coffee. Special, like an Arizona sunrise or a country farm after the rain…
  • Nice work, lot's of neat ideas that I will be stealing! Especially the "flying" brace and the tuned ports. The lute style top brings a tight midrange and treble similar to the "00"s and must simplify the build process. Your solution for the "upper bout" is genius !

You did FINE with your demo playing...Just so you know!
  • Legend holds, that when this guitar is played under a full moon, unicorns gather nearby, and all spirits are lifted to enlightenment..

This luthier is amazingly talented. The video has convinced me never to try making a guitar. The amount of tools ($$$) and specialty skills needed make me realize that I can better use my time playing a guitar rather than creating one.

That is the prettiest acoustic guitar I think I've ever seen. You are amazing...me saying a great job is an understatement. Cool background music as well

staggering, and beautiful- hopefully Pete Townsend doesn"t get it

Very nice! I think you succeeded in proof of concept. The bass is strong, but not boomy, just crisp and tight. And the treble is clear and round. That sure is some pretty wood, too. Nice axe all around. When I was watching the beginning I thought you were building a cittern. And really, if you make one of those strung with 4 or 5 courses and leave off the fake upper bouts, you'll have a super-cittern. My mind tends to go that way cuz cittern has been my main axe for some decades, even though I started music on Classical guitar in '69.
