If you do this again Lud, I'd highly recommend checking out the Set Seed world record for Minecraft - the runners there are so good that they're basically TASes at this point

Speedrunning to me is one of those things that I couldn't really appreciate until I dove deeper into the community. I went from: 'Oh cool they did the level pretty quick I guess', to: 'Holy shit did they just get the subpixel placement on the first try !?!'. It's really one of those things that the more you know about it, the more you can enjoy it, and I now have the utmost respect for runners, and the patience, skill, and determination it takes.

It's crazy how universal speedruns are. You don't have to know anything about a game to appreciate how much time is put into performing a world record speedrun, and Ludwig demonstrated that perfectly here.

Now that Ludwig moved to YouTube I find myself always watching him. I get people like live streams but this is so much better
  • @iamgoo
We gotta give Doctor Battle some love when he's back online.
  • @jammage
I can never understand how Ludwig is a world record holder and has something in common with these gods of humans

5:23 To note since I feel it's relevant, because of SRM and ACE (which helped make the Brawl Demo run possible), most major categories have a split of SRM versions that allow the trick, and No SRM versions that ban it. I totally understand the perspective of viewers who see this stuff and think that's all Zelda runs are now, but it's important to remember that the No SRM categories are still popular, if not more so than the SRM versions. There's plenty of people running the No SRM categories if you don't enjoy the SRM runs. It's not that SRM runs replaced the old categories, but it's more like they added additional categories for runners to run. The choice is there for people who want to run or watch.

I love Lud’s reaction to CashMayo’s Gauntlet run, and yes he definitely should watch an any% speedrun of Titanfall 2 sometime.

I think Getting Over It will always be my favorite speedrun to watch, because of the sheer speed you see on screen. It's one of those things that even as someone unfamiliar with the game, you can understand just fast and precise all of it is.
  • I never thought I would say this but I am now highly invested in among us speedrunning
  • @Gmany01
“It’s always satisfying how he finishes the boss fight with the absolute max meter” Ludwig have you ever played or seen anyone play sekiro? Because filling the posture bar is the primary way you kill bosses.

1:55 as someone who moderates the among us speedrunning community, that run didn't get enough appreciation. default tasks, the category being run here, is extremely rng heavy. it relies on the tasks that you're assigned when entering freeplay mode, which are randomly selected. since there's so many tasks to choose from, getting short tasks close together is hard enough, and all maps such makes the problem 4 times worse. at this moment, there are only 2 runs in that category under 4 minutes, it was a huge deal when it happened. as such, the movement isn't optimal because the chances of getting those tasks are so slim, you really only have 1 shot at it. i personally would've loved to see the all maps category covered, as that's a much more interesting category to watch. the pathing, planning, and execution that goes into those runs are much more impressive by speedrunning standards.

ludwig has named 6 different games "the hardest game in the world"

I would definitely recommend watching the Titanfall 2 Speedrun, as it is a really cool speed game with all the platforming tricks they pull off. Either the run you had in the spreadsheet, which given the time I think is the No Cutscenes Any% by Bryonato, or the standard version of the run by Zweek are amazing runs that do a great job of showcasing the game.
  • @AidanS99
7:54 fun fact. That grenade jump strat at the beginning of the run is why the devs gave octane robotic legs in apex.
  • @Annoyyo7
The first sub-1 came out a week ago, and it's nearly perfect. Getting over it is truly an amazing game.
  • @sleepy2702
I still remember when I first beat Celeste and I was so proud of myself. I told my brother and he said "Oh, have you watched the speedruns?" I very quickly went from feeling like a god to realising how pathetic my run was compared to the top speedruns :')
  • @Skeansss
"Amogus zero skip" is something i never thought i would hear in my life
  • @FelixEA
That was so fun, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the speedruns
