  • For us who grew up in those times most of us miss those times we played outside instead of sitting on there asses now 😮

There is a big advantage to paper catalogs. You can browse through them without having to know ahead of time what you might want. In a paper catalog, you often come across something you weren't even thinking about, i.e. "Oh look, that little tchotchke would look perfect on mom's desk", or "wow, that's a great price for that tool . It would be great to add to my toolbox." Lots of the old stuff had advantages that modern kids can't even imagine.

You brought a smile to my face when you played that clip of the Statler Brothers. My favorite group and a local one that we are all so proud of.

I still get many L. L. Bean catalogs every year and order my fall and winter clothing from them. Been doing this for the past 35 years. Love it.

I still own a couple of Sony Walkmans and I still listen to my cassettes on them to this day! 😊

The boom box that took 8 D batteries. Then ate your tape when the batteries got low. Then you had to do surgery on the cassette and patch it with some scotch tape lol. To this day, when I hear Tangerine by Led Zeppelin, I hear the silent spot in the song from the patch.
  • I’ll say things have changed! People used to talk to one another on a phone and even face to face!
  • Uhm. Every emergency service, public service, retail business has a landline. People still go to arcades, & a lot of professional missions, producers, film makers, & photographers still use analog methods...
  • What have I learned from this video: socialising and social activities were turned into staying at home and being antisocial. Most of these things also go to the dogs as soon as the power goes out or you drop your device. Ah, progress.

Don't remind me. I had to go to the library to use a computer. Before I finally got my phone. Hooking up our DVD to a Comcast cable box was a night. Programming a Comcast cable remote was a nightmare .

I miss drive-ins. I tell you, the more we rely on computers and remotely doing thigs, we are slowly becoming the people in the floaty chairs in Wall-E.

My sister informed me last week that the local drive in theater recently was restored and re-opened. They played Twister as the opening night movie and they made it free for opening night. I told her it was funny because a drive in movie screen is destroyed in that movie. I had just watched it again on my DVD the week before that.

Sears discontinued its wish catalog in 1993
