it's K-Gold!
KGLD, 1380 "K-Gold", was a St Louis oldies station from 1985 to around 1992, when it switched to a sports format.
when i lived there in the summer of 1989, it was the station of choice on my little punk beater car's am radio. they had a fairly diverse playlist, and there's certain songs i hear to this day which remind me of that station, that summer.
when i moved back to chicago, i could barely pick the 5000-watter up after dark. so i contacted one of their dj's, "Keith Alan", to make a tape for me. he kindly obliged with a double-sided, in-studio tape. thanks, Keith, wherever you are.

Great radio station... When 103.3 FM flipped from Top 40 to Oldies the end was nigh for K-Gold, sadly, and 1380 became a bastard stepchild of a radio station for years going through scads of different formats. Today it is a religious station playing Catholic programming, but is for sale again so who knows where it will land. If I had the $$ I'd buy it and bring back K-Gold :) We need some oldies on the air here since KZQZ 1430 lost its license.

This was one of my favorite stations when I was a kid. Sad that AM in St. Louis is all talk and religion. The closest we came again to something like the old KXOK was KZQZ and the late Bob Romanik blew that...I would love to see another Golden Oldies station happen again.
