Thomas and Martha Wayne were murdered June 29th; their son Bruce, 8 years old at the time was never seen again. This was only the beginning of the strange disappearances of orphaned children in Gotham city.

Background of the Story:
Basically, Bruce is a ghost in this story but he still became Batman and took in Dick, Jason, and Tim because he understood their pain. I thought of the voice at the beginning of the song as Gotham's voice, that lured Bruce away with the promise of escaping his pain and later on joined in on the song. The boys are still alive in this story and have contact with the other heroes who don't know that Batman is an actual entity that exists. I have a whole story that exists about this AU but I couldn't really put much more in this video.

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy watching and happy Halloween!!

The idea that Gotham has an otherworldly song calling lost and forgotten children really fits naturally in Gotham.
  • I love the idea of people in Gotham thinking that Batman isn't a human, but a cryptid that lures in broken children and takes them as its own.

Watching this makes me realize the Batman is just a sad little boy in a play suit cry for his parents.

I feel like this represents Batman as death, welcoming those who are weary and lost... Even if they are young
  • I love this idea. It turns batman from a crazed vigilante into a mythical fae-like being. Almost like a much darker version of Peter Pan, and urban fairy haunting the night. I whole-heartedly approve.
  • Beautiful. It shows Batman as what he represents according to Sandman. A symbol of hope for the innocent and unprotected, the unjustly treated and young. A symbol of terror for the cowardly and insane, the evil and the heartless.
  • It's almost like Gotham has a spirit of its own and simply waited for the perfect vessels to act out its will.

About the whole "voice of Gotham" thing, I legit think the city is haunted, or possessed. Think about it, a location does not get THAT many full on cannibals just from poverty or drug lords or gun runners or corruption. Court Of Owls only explains so much.... Arkham games claimed it was a Lazarus Pit under the city.
  • it is a fact of nature that children, instinctualy trust criptids that don't try to kill them in the first five seconds of meeting them
  • This is such a cool different take on Batman but one that still feels really in line with the spirit of Batman; great stuff!

0:48 man, idk what it is, but this frame is absolutely haunting. knowing what we know of Batman, it's so disturbing (in a good way!) to see this foreboding and intimidating figure weep for a child he does not know. their height difference is staggering and the position it puts them in would make anyone think it was meant to be scary- but that's not the case. light is emanating from this impossibly large figure and it weeps for a burden they share hauntingly beautiful, well done
  • That one dislike is Damian being salty over being left out. XD All jokes aside, this was amazing. I'm really sad I didn't find this on Halloween proper... :( And those shots of Batman as a shadow with (weeping) eyes? [chef's kiss]

Just to let everyone know, I’m actively working on a sequel to this video!!

I love it. A supernatural batman, a protector. I would read an entire paperback or even novel of this, just to see how the boys try to explain their father is an otherworldly spirit. Do you have an idea for what joker would be in the universe? Like a demon? Or a spirit like batman, but who goes to those lost in madness rather than grief?

I started crying 15 seconds in... when little Bruce looked at us

I feel like the melancholy and sad tone of this animatic is like, the perfect mix for a Batfamily limited series. I feel like there should be something that highlights the sadness of the situation and how Bruce inadvertently projects himself onto young and impressionable children and endangers them. Like, especially with what happened to Jason, Barb, Steph, Damian, and probably a whole lot of other things I’m forgetting. Point is, I think it’d make for an interesting concept as a comic.

Bruce: I have a big house... I'm gonna fill it with children.
