I've found that I have to take breaks from SVU. I LOVE this show but sometimes it's a little too much! Well written and wonderful acting!
  • You know you watch too much True Crime when you know exactly where they got each episode idea without MsMojo telling you 😂

23 seasons in and still one of the best shows out there! A must watch!

The fascinating thing about the Kitty Genovese case is that we still study it in psychological settings and in social psych, because the bystander effect has been studied further and it IS real, but it's strange that it comes from a case where it actually wasn't in play - since it's not true that no one helped her.

The season 4 episode, "Damaged", and the season 6 episode, "Pure", both have elements of The Ken & Barbie Murders from Canada that were committed by former spouses Paul Bernado & Carla Hamulka. The season 9 episode with legendary guest star, Robin Williams, entitled "Authority", is based on the real-life Milgrim experiments. And, the season 16 episode, "December Solstice", is in part loosely inspired by the events surrounding the death of legendary radio DJ and voice of Shaggy from the SCOOBY DOO cartoons, Casey Kacium, guest starring actress Marcia Cross.

We thought of Robin Williams as a comedian, but he was a brilliant, Julliard-trained dramatic actor who could have stepped into the lead in Macbeth or Hamlet on Broadway without missing a beat! I wish they'd continued this episode for another week or two and let Williams shine. His kind comes along once in a generation. Damn, but I miss him.
  • “He’s really sorry” sniff sniff Yeah that’s why he did it 5 times and to 4 of his sisters….
  • @OhMyStellar
The actor for "Holden’s Manifesto” just blew me away. He really managed to mimic how the guy from the real case spoke in his videos too..
  • The Duggar inspired episode is one of my favorites. My favorite is that Rollins loves the SVU version of 19 kids and counting and spends her “desk duty” (due to her close to giving birth)job rewatching the episodes to figure out any pattern.
  • The Dugger family episode is one of my favorites. Instead of the brother being accused of sexual assaulting his sister, it's the family's own preacher that is caught and taken to jail.
  • I know officially number 16 is based on the Nicole Kach case, but I also felt it has a lot in common with the Sophie Lionnet case. It's a really heartbreaking case of a nanny who was basically imprisoned by her delusional employer who eventually murdered her.

I recognised that episode of SVU with the twins who were raised as a boy and girl. I remember reading about the Reimer's case in my psychology classes. What really impressed me about the episode was not just the performance of the actor playing the brother, but also the actor playing the 'sister,' who were one and the same. It was the same actor, playing both twins. Was a great performance!
  • The fact that Chris Brown still made the top music charts after his abuse was known is just depressing and horrifying.
  • I'm so glad that Benson's character and actress got to have a baby, she had always wanted to have one.

I’d like to note, because they didn’t say it, science has found that gaming has no causation or correlation to violent crime.
  • I remember when I first learned of the Gypsy case, I LOATHED Dee Dee so much. She reminded me of an ex-family member. When I also learned that Gypsy only had a few years left, I practically jumped for joy. I wish Gypsy a great life outside of prison and I hope she can recover from the trauma she suffered
  • The one that Hillary duff was in was like the Casey Anthony's case in many ways....just started to watch this video so I am not sure yet if it was on this list. I noticed several episodes ripped from the headlines but no complaints on my end. It's interesting to see how they do it and have there own twists to it.

You're missing an important information about the real story of the twins. They both unalived themselves later on in their lives. In 2002 Brian (twin that grew up as a boy) unalived himself. In 2004 David (twin that was forced to be a girl) and Jane separated, and David unalived himself as well. He was 38 years old.
  • One case i forget I remember the svu episode name but the actual case was the case of Patricia Stalling, a woman who was accused of poisoning her baby with anti freeze and when really her baby had a rare genetic condition and died.
