New Dual Traffic Lights On Escondido Creek Trail (El Norte Pkwy & Creek Trail)

Published 2024-07-18
You probably were asking yourself, "Am I seeing double?" The answer is yes, you are seeing double, and it's real. This video was taken in July 12, 2024 on a very hot 90-degree day.

These are new traffic signals that Escondido installed not long ago and it's mainly for bikers to use to get across on the Escondido Creek Trail. Every road this bike route meets either has new traffic lights or just some simple flashing yellow lights if someone needed to cross. I feel like the city over-did it with some of the signals because there are pedestrian signals facing each other on an incredibly short 3-yard crosswalk where only bikers have to yield and you see that in this video. Also there are two pedestrian signals facing each direction for the bikers so I thought that was a little unnecessary to have two when only one is needed. A cool thing that the city did though was if you are riding your bike towards the signal, you don't have to press the button to get a green because there are sensors on the ground for bikers to stop on and that makes the light turn green while the hand is still showing.

Here is m video of more new traffic lights that face the drivers.    • New Traffic Lights For Bikers (El Nor...

Also here is another intersection just down this bike path that has bike traffic lights with the bike symbol.
