Legalities of building your own gun and other FAQ's

This is a very good video, I realize it is over eight years old but it showed up in my feed. I have lost count of the times folks wanted to utilize my certified welding skills, and Machinist/Millwright skills for free and then get bent when I give them an impromptu "Quote for services". Had one gentleman ask me to weld up and repair his commercial box blade for the cost of the welding rod and then was indignant when I asked him if he would redo my drive way for the cost of the road base....took a few minutes to explain it to him and when he finally got it, we couldn't come to an equitable (for him) deal. I shall binge watch your channel tonight...

So it sounds like you started with no prior experience, taught yourself machining and bought all the equipment - I'm impressed by the dedication that took and the quality of the final product. I'd love to give it a shot if I could afford the equipment, but I'm not confident it would turn out so nice. Thanks for the videos. I've subscribed. Any of those future projects sound fun to watch.

You sir are amazing i like that you combined two awesome hobby's into one cnc and building guns i would like to do that too but im 14 and i don't have the resources or money to do this but props to you and maybe you could try using your cnc to make custom etched decal in your guns.

Absoutly love the lower design, Amazing work. I am a FFL07 in the process of becoming a 07/02. I am interested in an 80% if you decide to do them or helping you bring a version of your design to market.

I don't know if you answered this somewhere else, and I don't think you included it on this video, but would you send be the AR blueprints? The 2D drawings you found on the net somewhere. I want to design my own unique lower like you did, but I need the blueprints for the original to get started. I would appreciate it very much. You should look for a Makers association. We have one in Detroit and you pay dues to the assoc. and you get to sign up for blocks of time on machines, there are also built in community of professionals that will coach you through your project. It helps eliminate the overhead of the equipment. These are popping up everywhere, and they are a huge HUB of vocational information too. Btw they make a drill press Jig for 80% lowers to help eliminate the need for a cnc. Btw King love your channel!

You remind me of ApostleP in knives. The cost of manufacturing is becoming cheaper considering for one decent rifle can be over ten thousand dollars. I consider myself a Constitutional Republic and find your video exceptional, and applaud your current standards. Will be looking into more of your videos as I too am in unique designs. What kind of mill do you use and where did you get it from your ar design is awesome

Hey there. Awesome videos. thanks. what other things can the machines you have do? and can you design anything with a computer. what do you recommend a noob like me?

I am currently in the process of making an ar from scratch using billet aluminum and side plates. I have a video on here of what is a start in that direction using an half an 0% lower that I scrapped.

@shananagans5 Thanks! I have considered doing another design, and even have it finished in CAD ready to produce, but the regulations and costs associated with an FFL07 have made me abandon that idea, at least for the near future.

Way to go buddy..thanks for your vids....I have to say I can relate.. if you saw my motorcycle you would understand ..I am self taught and I have fabbed about 20 parts that I never have duplicated.. I know its a lot of fun to make something that is from inside your head..press on and I hope to see more. Steven

all you need is a drill press and a few extra milling bits to finish off the control fire group which is cheap. its easy.

@memdump20 An X2 will do an 80% with no problem but will be slightly too small to do a lower from billet.
