"I don't always play golf, but when I do I arrive in style..."
  • I don't know whether the pilot of the golfer was more scarred, but that pilot kept the "Don't stall, don't stall, don't stall...." going all the way to touchdown. Good job! Good landing. Sorry about the airplane.

That dude's putting game is never going to be the same. On the other hand, he's got a great story to tell at the country club bar for the rest of his life
  • That's a tough hole par 5 and he almost stuck the green, amazing shot.
  • @justsnappy
Pilot started his trip yelling, “CLEAR!” Ended the trip with, FORE!
  • @lharris428
He missed the golf bag..... dude totally nailed it.

A beautiful landing, not just a birdie, but an albatross (three under par, not a hole in one)...
  • Juan you recently quoted Bob Hoover in the video of the Shrike landing in Nevada. " If you're faced with a forced landing , fly the thing as far into the crash as possible " . This was a fine example of such !!!!

I know the pilot and was his first call after the accident. This success story is even better knowing he recently got his license and didn't have a lot of hours yet in this particular aircraft. We had a two hour debrief on our drive home from Sacramento after I picked him up and as an over 1000hr pilot who has also survived an engine out on takeoff in Reno in 2018 I was so happy with his decision making and was so proud of how well he did given the situation. Full disclaimer I own the flight school where he got his license and I congratulated his instructors yesterday and today on a job well done getting him this prepared for a moment we all hope to never have. Thanks for your analysis of this event and I 100% agree. He definitely flew it the whole way to the building and his worry about other human beings may have saved him from an even harder impact. He saw the golfer and put in left control inputs not wanting to hit him and that helped get that left wing into the ground and began that dissipation of energy as it dug in and turned around and backed in and also hit the building a little further away than the one behind the golfer that was closer. I greeted him in the emergency room by shaking his hand telling him he is now a legend.
  • “Sir, that is NOT a course-approved cart!” Dude’s nickname is going to be ‘Mulligan’ back at the airport.
  • @moejr1974
The fact he went right between the golfer and the golf bag is very impressive.
  • @Prefect99
Taking that wing off will have absorbed a lot of impact forces.
  • @ronmoore5827
Thanks for the field office report. That guy on the course now has the best golf story in the clubhouse!
  • Total losses from this accident: 1 Piper Turbo Arrow, two pairs of underwear, one pair of golf pants.
  • Living in Sacramento region saw it covered on the news but was also waiting for Juan to cover 😊. Knowing the pilot is okay and no one hurt I gotta say the golf jokes in comments giving me good laughs!
  • @Saml01
When you say you aren't gonna miss tee time and you really mean it. 😉 Good job pilot.
  • @slayer6936
He didn't want to be late for his Tee Time. That pilot did a outstanding job . I'm glad everyone is ok and that guy putting green will never forget that day.
  • @ortoapp
Need to start putting horns on these things 😂 That golfer got a good story for the club house.

Kept the gear up, kept the speed under control, flew the airplane all the way in and walked away. That’s how it’s done.
