I’m preparing to go to school for this once my son starts pre kindergarten. I needed this. Update: I’m officially a surgical tech student. I start in October.
  • As a Program Director myself, I appreciate this video. I think a lot of students come into this thinking they are just going to learn instruments and how to pass them. They don't realize how much more goes into the career. There is a very large misunderstanding of our profession

Going to surgical tech school is the best thing I have done in my life . I love the job

I made it through a semester of school but had to drop out because of depression, I wasn't ready for school yet. I'm excited to go back when I get back on my feet.
  • @leeslyrose
i literally feel like you’re my mentor because I live in Las Vegas, nevada and know this csn campus. Thank you.

Thank you!! I'm not in a program/school yet, but I will be (God willing) in Summer 2020. This is when the next Surgical Technology program starts at the college I plan on attending. I have to take the prerequisites before I even apply to the Surgical Tech program though...hopefully I can complete them before summer 2020. I haven't stepped foot in a classroom in over 10 years! I'm 27 and I dropped out in 9th grade and got my GED at 20. I've worked in medical records, studied medical coding and am currently a (medical)scribe. I believe I finally found the career path I want to take, Took me some time lol but better late than never!!

Hi All! This was a very informative and eye opening video. I really appreciated this as a new student to the medical profession and as an adult student who has been out of school for 10 years as well as someone else I read in the comments. I had financial aid holding me back for years and finally have the opportunity (before quarantine happened) to pursue the rest of my education. At the time years ago, I picked something in the theatre field that I feel no longer serves my purpose. I don't need a degree to do that stuff as I can do it by having a social media account. So I decided my aspirations were design and secretary work, but I've always been drawn to medical just not a doctor or nurse. I am considering dual majoring at my school and had this as an option and spoke with director. Much like this video, I received alot of insight that I value and will help me decide. I'm alil discouraged because I was told I probably can't dual major with this as it will be a tough program and not all students that apply will get in and no job can be held during clinicals. (which I understand) my school has a rigorous associates program. I'm not scared, I'm just trying so hard to pick the right path as this is my second time and whatever I focus on i don't want it to be a waste or drop because its too much. People have already told me art students won't transition well you have no background in math and health etc. i've heard it all, so i'm trying to block out the negative and see if I want to pursue Computer Graphics/CAD or Surgical Tech or Medical Assistant program. I think Medical Assistant program would be easier to dual major as it won't be as demanding i've gone over it, but something about this I like. I have a week to decide before I apply and unfortunately i can't start until June anyway so I really enjoy these videos. Any feedback anyone can give for a student going back to school at 30 possibly taking up a completely unfamiliar territory feel free to comment. I WISH EVERYONE THE BEST OF LUCK AND thank you Surgical Tech Tips this is cool. Much respect and appreciation for this field. Its become so much more fascinating to me. Stay Well! Part 2!!!!! lol

  • I start surgical tech program tomorrow. Pretty nervous but I’m really excited. Thank you for posting these videos.
  • @jasminemanly14
Can you please do a video on anesthesia, and or what the most challenging types of surgeies you've had to deal with as a tech please? :)
  • I'm really glad you made this video.  I like seeing the similarities and the differences between CSN and my school.  Not to mention just seeing what CST school is going to be like in general.  I'm so close to starting classes now and getting really antsy.  This is a really nice video to be able to watch, but you're killing me making me wait for part 2!!  LOL

When I went to surgical tech school w actually attended class in Surgery, bc Our instructor was a Nurse in the OR, so we got some top line trainning. Mine was a one year course but we finished in 10 mos. 12 of us were in the class.
  • @trukboat7701

Late, was a air force urology surgery tech in the 80s. liked the job and the hours were great. we did surgery twice a week in the OR and clincal outpatient surgery in clinic. dont miss standing still for hours when masked. i observed and assisted on penile implants and other crazy cases. it was fun and i miss the conversations we had while cutting some guy open. i can still smell the cutting tool.see the smoke raising from the patients. that was over 25 years ago. memories..
  • I’m going to school for this and you have helped me!! Thank you
  • @queendee437
