Things were not going well in September for 17-year-old Jamal Rutledge. He was sitting handcuffed in a Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. police station being booked for criminal mischief and burglary charges by Officer Franklin Foulks.

Ironically, things turned around for Rutledge when Officer Foulks collapsed with an apparent heart attack. Thinking quickly, Rutledge began shouting for help and kicking the security fence as hard as he could. His outburst got the attention of the other officers, who rushed to Foulks’ aid and were able to stabilize him until paramedics arrived.

Doctors at the hospital have credited Rutledge’s quick action (along with the assisting officers) for saving Foulks’ life, and next week they will all be honored at a special ceremony. See, you never know what can happen when you get arrested!

Thirty years ago there was a kid in jail for shoplifting. He was around 15 I believe. The officer charged with monitoring the cell block the kid was in had a heart attack. While the rest of the brats in the cell block were laughing at him, that one boy ran over and did CPR on the officer while screaming at the others to go get help. They didn't and it wasn't until he had been doing CPR for nearly 15 minutes that another officer came along and an ambulance was called. The other officers took over CPR (doing compression for 15 minutes is exhausting for even someone in good shape). The officer lived and the kid got released the following week. The governor pardoned him. He was expected to serve almost a year in jail. All those kids who were laughing ended up serving out their entire sentences. My brother had been a school mate of that kid.
  • This is a young man that deserves a second chance in life. His actions speaks louder than words!

This kid has a good heart. He might have made some bad decisions (so did all of us) but he has a great heart.

AWSOME. I HOPE HE CHANGES HIS LIFE FOR THE BETTER. HE IS A GOOD PERSON. OUT OF A BAD SITUATION CAME A GOOD THING

This is a beautiful message - how can you possibly give a "thumbs down"? smh
  • Honestly, I want to thank the host for having some personality. you're more well spoken than most YouTube hosts, and you actually interested me in what this channel is.

So many criminals are not bad people. Some people have just been dealt a hard hand. Drug addict mother, gang banging father. A lot of people learn to steal and cheat at a very young age. Sometimes wrong or illegal is easier, faster. But their souls, their hearts, are sweet and golden. You see God in so many forms. 💔🙏👑

Congrats to that young man! Hopefully his life takes a 180 from this experience and he can live a fulfilling life!
  • I am so proud of You and the young hero that saved the officers life. The entire video was professional from start to finish. Articulate, facts rather than opinion. And music that serves as a back drop not as a subliminal message. I will share this. More please! Keep up the excellent world class reporting.

This shows that there is still hope for this young man . He is not a hard heartened criminal like many others of his age .

Just be a human being, man i realy wish people would take that seriously. That would be awesome almost heaven.
  • This young man is a real good man he may have did some bad things but look what he did for that officer he deserves a second chance and I pray that the judge takes this into. Consideration at his hearing.
