Nearing the end of my time in the South Island, I get straight into it and head out explore another unknown river to me.
Right from the get go, it's a challenging place to fish but little do I know what is in store for me...
Just the stuff we daydream about...

  • When a fish can make you that exhausted it’s a true monster! Marvelous my man, what a trophy
  • @big1dog23
Most instructive YT NZ FF channel ever. Mike's were great, as were some early guys like"Troutboys" I think, but nobody shared as much info., while providing excellent videos of beautiful places and fish. Tight lines!
  • @nickcanney2386
Never watched someone run up and down the river like that interesting tactic and what a cool fish! Thanks for sharing and well done!
  • Absolutely incredible! Nobody is making videos like you, brother, nobody. Exceptional work…
  • @djelliott101
You’re living the dream dude! Thank you for letting us fish vicariously through UK lock down four via your channel. Thank you.
  • @jensunray1
Thankyou for sharing your pure passion....to witness these adventures is simply magic !
  • Congratulations! What a sick fish and experience. I live in Colorado in the US and we have some amazing and world class fly fishing. And then I watch your videos and they seem like fantasy land I’m stoked for you! Well done
  • @ferencbene2688
What a stonker of a fish, that 10 pounder was amazing. In fact, they are all amazing, just wish I was back there again. The spare ribs in the Boot and Jandals in Omarama are something to behold, if you can even finish them all.
  • What a classic. No major build up, just a big dark fish, and once on, don't you love how the big wise trout often head down stream in a big hurry to their place of safe refuge. You did very nicely to follow, get dunked, get exhausted but still protect the 5x from breaking. Lived as much as is possible and thank you for sharing that memory. Will join you in spirit and be in the South and catch something similar. And yes, to those other comments, so lucky to have such a beautiful country, rivers, and wild trout. BTW, this is the first time I have subscribed so apologise for the ramble but just so happy to find TnOnTr and a fella who is authentic, real, a blast and shares all the best ways to setup and fish. Cool cool cool.

Beautiful fish and beautiful reaction! This type of fish is a gift, and a wonderful blessing. To many act as though it's just another day in water with a catch like this one. Keep it wet!!

I would think less than 1% of us would ever tie into a Brown that big. Especially in a river. Well done
  • Awesome fish! Man you were breathing HARD! Great video, keep them coming mate!
  • Amazing videos and the fish are something else. What a place - top of my bucket list to visit. Thanks for making these - huge amount of effort and your friday fillers are great.
  • @Steven-td3ec
Awesome brown Alex! You are a😅 fantastic angler and cinematographer. Beautiful done, you manage to capture The beautiful scenery and the battle between you and that monster brown. Bravo well done
  • @anneelam6244
Good Gracious! What a fish! Go Alex and Frank! Sweet 😁
  • @squatchy69
Such a nice fish and great video. So many bucks and almost no hens. Usually kind of skinny too. I wish I have water like that. We have giant fish but super crowded. You're my favorite
  • @flyman451
Great video! I watched many of your videos and those with your mate. Normally you guys are kind of ho hum and don't get very excited about 22" - 24" wild trout that guys in the US see maybe once a season. But I enjoyed seeing you get all excited and flustered with the monster brown. I've had fish like that, 23" - 24", on 5X and #18 dry flies that just wouldn't quit and you get so excited so happy when it finally is in the net. Good job and I'm happy for you.
