  • Best part of the video was Marty saying โ€œIโ€™m really grateful I get to work on cars with my dadโ€œ and he said it a couple of times. You know he meant it.

Marty is just the very best addition to this channel, everyone needs a mate like that ,much love respect from Australia Marty,by the way we had a Rambler Hornet ,didnt really kick on that well so you could buy them really cheap ,my dad used to rip out that straight six and fit a windsor v8 ,cool car

So Marty is a good friend of mine. Hands down the most honest and approachable person. He loves all marques: and is a student of all. He does however have a proclivity for some off the beaten path cars. Quality man. Simply put.

Wow!! I am curious if Ralph and my dad went to school together!! I am reaching out to my dad now, because I was born in Flemington, grew up on Flemington Speedway, and I have a really cool story about the Dealership that Ralph bought his Scrambler new at, on route 31. My father (just like Ralph had to) went to the AMC dealership in Flemington and purchased a brand new Javlin. I know it was yellow. Long story short, there were multiple issues with the car, and my Grandmother would go with him to the Dealership to try and correct the problems. The dealer gave them a hard time with it. My grandfather was bedridden with cancer by this time, and had a phone installed next to his bed (๐Ÿ˜‚that was a big deal back in the '60's!) Needless to say that he blew his top when they told him that the dealer wouldn't do anything to correct the problems. As was told to me by both my Grandma and Dad, " after several curse words, he picked up the phone, dialed a number. Then we heard him say, "George. It's Brownie. I told you they weren't going to do anything about that piece of $&ร—t!!! Alright. Thanks. They are on their way over there now. Alright. " and he hung up the phone. ". Then; " Mary! Take Michael back to the Dealership with the car." Gram started to protest, and he shouted, " Go back to the @#$%%&*@ Dealership, they are giving you another car." As they pulled into the Dealership, EVERYONE was walking out to them, including the owner. "We're so sorry about the confusion. Please, pick any vehicle, anything you want. Let me know which one you want. " Of course my grandmother being the most honest person on the planet, absolutely refuses to "upgrade" on their dime, and finally found an Ambassador that was 3 cents more than the Javlin. And she INSISTED that they take the 3 cents ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Then the manager said to Grandma, " I can't understand why you didn't want to take the top of the line, we were told to give you whatever you want. By the way, how do you happen to know George Romney??" Apparently my grandfather was friends with him. Small world ๐ŸŒŽ.

It's very refreshing to watch a classic car video where people like Parker and Marty take time to explain stuff and they are very knowledgeable and they just present everything very well. I hope they continue to do videos. The classic car world needs gentleman like these two

Thanks for showing some old AMC's. I just turned 60, my 1st car was a '74 Javelin. I really enjoy that you appreciate all of the cars. Not just the ones that were unattainable to mere mortals.

Back in โ€˜77, I needed a winter car and bought a 69 Rambler American for $100 bucks. It was previously as old New England Telephone service car with 100k miles. Radio delete 199 six with the 3spd on the column. Thing was practically indestructible. I got two winters out of it, and sold it still running for the same $100 I paid. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Great video and very cool Marty is willing to share his knowledge of the AMCโ€™s. What a huge collection of cars for you guys to look at.
  • @1blindmarc
This access to an owner is unprecedented. Thereโ€™s is several AMCโ€™s there that are worthy of restoring or modifying. Wish I had the funds to buy a few of these.

These videos are awesome! I hope these cars get to go on the road again sometime. Shame to let all of those go to waste. This video taught me a lot.
  • @shawnpersico305

  • @czechappy
In 1968 you could get a regular Javelin with a 4 speed and a 390 ci. in. In 1969 and 1970 you had to get the SST Javelin or the Mark Donohue Edition in order to get a 390 ci. in.
  • @paulheywood2116
