The thing is ... Aerith is fun. It's fun and flirty to be with her. It gives joy to Cloud. Let him forget dark times for a moment. But Clouds conversations with Tifa are much more meaningful and deeper. She supports him on a deep emotional level. They talk about the dark times. That's why she's the endgame.
