My inspiration came from What's the Mashup? (   • 100 Movies Dance Scenes Mashup (Mark ...  ) but I didn't manage 100! The idea was to do the same for movies from the Golden Age – meaning no title later than 1953 (although there is one at the end.) Oh, and none of these clips was sped up or slowed down.

Turn on subtitles to find out the film names.

PS. I write books as well. Here's two very reasonably priced ones about movies:

Film Editing is the one art form unique to the cinema. All other constituent parts of the medium derive from something else that came before. Writing and composing had been around for centuries; production design, special effects, acting and directing all came from the theatre, and sound was a later development following on from the phonograph. Even cinematography had an ancestor in photography. But editing had no ancestor. It was invented by the cinema and remains the essence of it. And yet now the Academy has decided - in its ever decreasing wisdom - to relegate this award to a highlights reel. Disgraceful.

No one searched for this but everyone is happy they found it.

I have to re-watch this occasionally to get my funk back! And I am 85 years old!

That “STOP— Wait a minute” moment was simply magical.

To whoever spent the hours upon hours it must have taken to find these clips, edit them, and then string them all together in a way that makes them feel authentic and natural: THANK YOU
  • This was an ERA where they were multi talented. They could Act, Sing, Dance .💃 🕺

The level of detail here is insane. They didn't just match beats, but lyrics and set pieces, too. Such a labor of love ❤

This suddenly turned up in my recommendation and I'm not mad at all 😂😂

Turn on the "closed captioning" and the title of the movies will appear.

Every six months or so I have to come back to this one. The editing, in selection, in cutting, and never missing a beat, is just incredible, the general mood is tremendous and it sustains throughout. It's a fun love letter to old Hollywood: musicals, follies, comedies, and everybody's happy and happy about being happy. it's about the perfect length, it can't get old. This video basically justifies the entire existence of YouTube.

You know what, this is why the internet is invented. 👏🏻
  • @TNRustedRed
I can't imagine the edit time this took, there's more than 50 movies here.

I really saw Rita Hayworth say “hot damn” for a second there. Incredible.
