Why Even Atheists Hate Atheists | Dogmatic Secularism

Published 2024-06-07
A lot of people hate atheists. Perhaps you've heard the label of "Reddit atheist." This is a term used to differentiate between "normal atheists" and their "militant" counter-parts.

In this video, I elaborate on this distinction we seem to be aware of, and I give an explanation of the mindset of these "secular dogmatists" based on my observations of them.

Secular Dogmatism absolutely implies there is secular evangelism. Perfect terminologies are perfect 💯.

Yeah, a good summary of the new atheist/Reddit atheist/ militant atheist/lacktheist. I especially liked your analogy of rationalist dualists as the people in 3D space viewing the sphere and the empiricist physicalists as the people in 2D space unable to appreciate the sphere. An apt illustration actually. I would just caution against you thinking empiricism, physicalism, or whatever, have anything to do with atheism simpliciter. Or even that new atheists, Reddit atheists, or whatever, are actually atheists; it seems they're just very confused agnostics. Cheers.
  • I forgot to edit this out so ignore the double negative at 11:39 (which probably goes without saying because of the context that follows, but I just wanted to clarify)

I've followed you a long time now on tiktok. Based on a number of your statements, its quite apparent that we must fundamentally disagree on a number of topics and also on our worldview. However, i can only point to one video you have ever produced where i disagreed with you. I find that surprising.

I've been reading a bit on solipsism lately and that sounds close to what your complaint is. Fools come from all backgrounds, and this is just the atheistic flavor. I grew up around Christians who presented theological doctrine as such ironclad evidence that they were right that the second I had questions or a different perception of the topic I was shut down hard. Some folks need to feel smart in order to see themselves as worthy of life.
