It's been a long time coming, but today we finally do a special deep dive into my first ever console game. Spider-Man on PlayStation 1 and Nintendo 64 packs an immense amount of nostalgia, fun, and even... horror? Yes, all the emotions, so let's dig into where Spider-Man's legacy truly began for me.

It is a horror game. Running away from the Carnage/Octopus hybrid still intense and scary as hell.

The Stan Lee intro is legendary✨️

Don't forget the Dreamcast version. I was a programmer on that port! It was one of the first games I worked on.

My absolute FAVOURITE Spiderman game, it just never gets old. Venom in this game is my canon Venom.

The carnage doc ock was terrifying as a child 😅

Dude this game and the sequel were my entire childhood. i used to play them all the time. I know them like the back of my hand, every day i would speedrun it because my PS1 didnt had a memory card i didnt even knew something like that existed. I stil dont know how i passed it, when I was a child I didn't know English, all the dialogues sounded like gibberish.

This game was awesome on the PlayStation 1... that last level though is still one of the most heart pounding experiences in a PS1 game because holy shit 😳
  • It blows my mind that the voice of Venom in this Spider-Man game is also the voice for cosmo in fairly odd parents

This is my favourite Spider-Man game! Played a ton of it on PS1 as a child and I still occasionally boot it up. The escape scene at the end of the game was totally horrifying back in the day...

I'm still recovering from the terror of Carnage and Doc Ock merging and chasing you in this game

Some of my favorite Marvel games are the non movie related ones.

Spider-Man (PS1/N64), Spider-Man 2 (The movie game on PS2/Gamecube), and now the Insomniac Spider-Man games are fantastic. Spidey has been my favorite Marvel hero for most of my life.

You left out some of the gold! :) The game had so much replay ability. You could unlock spoof mode where everything was done with a humorous twist from the perspective of The Watcher. If you typed in a bad word on the cheat code screen, Spider-Man would pop up and punch it into a “nice” word. It was such a fun game that knew how to have fun.

This game was amazing as a kid. Would do a playthrough with each costume. So much fun!

Still my favorite Spider-Man game The fact that there’s nearly 20 years between Spider-Man (N64/PS1) and Spider-Man (PS4) made me feel like Spider-Man (PS4) had kind of done the bare minimum for a 2018 game.

Definition of retro rebound for me! Loved this game as kid lol still holds up

This is still my favourite Spider-Man game to this day.
