I've always had some thoughts on the MCU Hulk and figured now seemed like a good enough time to share them

You got something wrong in this video. Universal only owns the distribution rights to Hulk movies. Disney could make a hulk movie if they were willing to share profits with Universal

What happened to the Hulk is what has happened to all the characters in the mcu. He’s been disneyfied into a comic relief. All of them have.

Age of Ultron was the last time Hulk was a badass. The later films turned him into a joke.

There's gotta be a reason why they barely touched the character of hulk. They really added so much on how all the other avengers feel, their story development, and how much they played a part into the final conclusion. While Bruce was just some comedic relief
  • Norton’s Hulk was my absolute favorite. He truly felt like an unstoppable force of nature and actually scared me when I was a kid. Ruffalo did a decent job in Avengers and Ultron, but after that, his character was picked apart piece by piece until we were left with how he is now. Hulk deserves better

I feel like after Infinity War, the beginning of Endgame should have shown us a Bruce Banner who was completely rid of the Hulk. Show us how after loosing to Thanos, the Hulk just lost all confidence and Bruce took over. Bruce Banner, not the Hulk, carved out a new life for himself during the five year gap. He went back to being a scientist, made new discoveries, gained a new reputation that was separate from the Hulk’s. It would be interesting to see a Bruce Banner who after being abandoned by the Hulk in Infinity War (Banned: “Screw you, you big ugly bastard! I’ll do it myself!”) gained a new self confidence and felt that he could finally live his life without the Hulk. He does it himself, just like he told the Hulk he would. So when the Avengers ask for his help with time travel, it’s not them going to ask the Hulk, it’s them going to ask one of the world’s most renowned scientists. And Bruce then helps them as Dr. Banner, not as the Hulk. Again, seeing Bruce find purpose without the Hulk and use his intellect to help the Avengers. But all of this of course would help fuel the story of Banner still needing the Hulk. Because when all is said and done, ignoring the Hulk for five years just means that the Hulk has unresolved issues that all come back to the surface once 2014 Thanos shows up. And of course the new lesson that Bruce has to learn is to bring the Hulk back out. Because for everything that Bruce has accomplished without the Hulk, he’s still worthless in a fight. And to fight Thanos and prevent an even worse event than Infinity War, they need the other guy. And Bruce needs to figure out how to let go and release a Hulk that has five whole years of pent up rage to dish out to a Thanos who hasn’t fought him before. I just feel like it would be interesting to see a story that resolves both the Hulk, and Bruce Banner’s arcs instead of just Bruce Banner. Because they’ve always been two separate people. Bruce literally refers to the Hulk as “the other guy” in the first Avengers movie. So having a “smart Hulk” instead of having both Hulk and Banner, means that you’ve erased the Hulk from existence, which gives him no closure from his trauma that the Hulk, not Bruce, experiences in Infinity War. The story should have been about both of them, but now it’s only about Bruce Banner.

I really miss the Hulk when he was really powerful and everyone was nervous around him.

Remember when even surviving a clash with the hulk used to mean something? Now he’s just a punching bag for other strong characters.
  • Just rewatched the 2008 Ed Norton Hulk movie today and still feel it's severely underrated. Hulk, in the 2020's has become a punchline rather than something to be feared.

Refrain from loving big strong green woman, love big strong green man

"So your saying the hulk.. the other guy.. saved my life?" Proceeds to murder the Hulk off screen and take his power for his own.

Looking back at the first Avengers movie and seeing where things have gotten to is like two different worlds. When rewatching the first Avengers movie I was astonished at how much I was enjoying it compared to what the MCU has become.

Cant anyone else see? Adult male marvel characters are either being forgotten about, overshadowed by random characters, or being neatured and turned into a joke. Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, moon knight, strange, loki have all suffered this fate. And it happened to hulk the most because A strong, muscular, angry man is problematic in Hollywood's obsession with making male characters lame
  • I am one of the few people who did like Mark Ruffallo's portrayal of the character. He was close to his comic book version, and could have been the best had writers not been prone to humillating him after AoU.
  • The 2008 Hulk was one of my favorite movies of all time, freaked me tf out as a kid
  • @timbomb374
The Hulk is actually dead in the MCU and nobody seems to care. Sure banner kind of got the Hulk's power but the personality of the Hulk is straight dead.
  • @misterelom
It's crazy when you think about it that aside from the 2008 movie (which is so underappreciated), the best interpretations of the Hulk in the MCU came from Joss Whedon of all people. If he didn't turn out to be the horrible person behind the scenes he was revealed as later I might've actually been interested to see a Hulk solo film directed by him.
  • It's ashame hulk isn't interesting anymore and She-Hulk seems to be making it worse.
  • @brucelston
Norton's banner was smarter and or atleast more cunning. timing his heart breathing, the way he used his surroundings to his advantage as a human and in hulk form. This new guy would not survive being hunted by the military in the 2008 movie in any way.
