They shouldn’t bother making another pirates of the Caribbean movie without him. He’s the heart of the franchise
  • Never has a character been so perfectly introduced without a single line of dialogue being spoken.

This scene told us everything we need to know about Jack and he didn’t even said a single word. Well played
  • Gentlemen. today is the day you will always remember as the day that the character Jack Sparrow came to the world.

It's hard to believe that this movie is already 20 years old. And still, what a great masterpiece!

Captain* Jack Sparrow nonchalantly stepping off of the mast and onto the dock as if his ship didn't literally just sink will forever be one of my favorite and most memorable moments in cinematic history. The way he just stands there patiently and then sticks his leg out to prepare for landing.
  • I love how they perfectly summarized Jack's character in a single scene. Right from the beginning you know exactly how this guy operates. So funny.

If I ever immigrate to another country, this is how I would like to arrive

Such a brilliant opening. It immediately sets the tone of the film while also making us love Jack from the start.

this is the single best entrance in the history of entrances.

I like how in the middle of trying to stop his boat from sinking, Jack takes a moment to pay respects to his fallen pirate brethren. He’s a pirate, but as Will says, a good man as well.

This scene is a perfect metaphor for the franchise. Like the boat, Johnny Depp is the one keeping it afloat, once Johnny stops, it will sink, be useless and barely recognizable. The one that will leave the scene with his head held up high will be captain Jack Sparrow.

The entire franchise is literally HIS story. No jack sparrow, no story

The orchestration of this movie's music is just incredible.

The Director immediately let's us know that Jack is an honourable man, when you see him salute his fellow dead pirates. Even though he steals and cons people, he's not disrespectful. He takes off his hat and salutes them when no one is around to watch him. He's already established as the protagonist.
  • This film had me at “what’d ya say to three shillings.. and we forget the name”. Straight away, perfect actor for the perfect roll. Always makes a film 10 times better.
  • I remember watching this in the movie theater when I was 10. All of Captain Jack’s scenes were legendary.
