Watch the second episode of this series and you will see the most nervous ones (Nati and Jayden) adapted to it really quickly while the ones laughing took much longer to understand that they shouldn't be laughing. Nati is really good. He's got the right attitude. He has discipline. He's quiet and he learns fast. He picked up Korean from their previous one-day visit to a Korean high school and he went on to continue learning Korean and cooking Korean food. All part of the equation to his speedy adjustment.

I am a Korean man who served in the Korean army for 4 years. That Di is showing enormous patience and generosity to the British boys. If the Korean trainees had the same attitude as those British boys ... I dont want to imagine.

I have been a fan of Korean Englishman for years, but I definitely valued your insight into this episode and would love to see you react to the rest of the series

Just a quick rundown so you'll know the boys: Bobby is a mumma's boy, in a very good and cute way. He's always calling his mum and he always talks about his mum in the previous series. His mum got famous too as she always comments on the videos of the boys previously. On the other hand, Max and Armand are best friends - these two are the most famous amongst Korean Englishman fans in Korea. They're both fun and relaxed and just hilarious. Armand was the student leader in their highschool, so he was pretty much uptight at first but Max kept him balanced, IMO. Nati and Harvey are also best friends - they're very smart and really good boys, just quiet most of the time but very opinionated too. Jayden is the most quiet of them all, and he's the one who's sort of a bit difficult to try on things. He's very honest, not in a rude way, but he's very fond of the K-culture too. These boys were scholars in Fulham Highschool, they're very intelligent and polite. And they're handled by Mr. Smith, the head director of their highschool - he also made appearances in the previous series. He's a friend of Josh from way back.

Nati has utilized his cadet training well so far in the series.

There was an earlier series on the channel titled Twins in Korea. Josh and Ollie took friends of theirs, a set of twins. One is a priest and the other is a Major in the British military. During the series, they filmed on the Korean Army base, the one he referenced earlier in the video. It’s a lot more light hearted than this. A few of the video focused on a workout regimen, training exercises, and episodes involving military rations and PX food. Definitely worth checking out!

Armand (the giggler) was definitely showing some anxiety. He was a leader in his school, and you can see him in previous videos take control of their group and being serious when needed, but here he was totally out of it. The wide eyed scared look he throws and his snapping at the boys shows his agitation. Before, no matter how rowdy the guys got, he had the patience of saint. Reply

Korean Englishman is such a good channel; hopefully, you’ll watch more of their content.

As a Korean man, I also served in the military. This is my first time seeing this man's video, but I agree with everything he says. If trainees are laughing and talking while eating, the instructor will make them not want to laugh anymore.

I'm Korean and not good at English. So I write a comment with help of a google translator. Sry It's been about 7~8 years since I was discharged from the military. At that time, I felt that it's a hell almost every day in milltary traning center.😅 DI always screamed or shouted, because they brought up to be respectful of 'cooperation' for us. Plus team-work, altruism, respect etc.. It becomes a very valuable asset when we go out into society later. Adversity will make a jewel of you. Thx! I hope everyone is happy today

Its been interesting as a fan of this series seeing how the experience has challenged these boys. Like at 39:50 KE fans have pieced together that Armand must have gotten the platoon in trouble because he wouldn't stop smiling. Armand was top of his class in high school: he's not used to being the guy who screws up, and it shows in his reaction. There's a later episode where his friend Max, who has generally been a cheerful and adventurous guy who is gung ho about everything, hits a moment where he's terrified and wants to quit and needs his teammates to push him into completing the task. His reaction was heartbreaking, but it seemed to be good for him. I feel like this skill, of failing, effing up and pushing through, is an important one for every young man to learn.

ohhh i hope you'll continue reacting to these british highschoolers series!! from when they were just been introduced to korean foods, their first trip to korea, until this recent series where they join the korean military. it helps to learn each personalities of the boys that'll get you more attached 😄 there's not many reactors of this series so im glad you reacted on this!!

I served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps for two years. I respect your service.
  • @mjs1343
Were you in the U.S. Marine Corps? I was a Korean Marine. Thank you for your hard work. I respect you.
  • I subscribe to The Englishmen which I followed almost at the beginning of the introduction to the students who are being introduced to all things Korean foods, culture, and the landscapes. I can't help but love these boys (now men) they are a joy to watch especially when sampling the cuisine of yummy foods and their reactions to new places🥰 💜

17:55 I am Korean and finished service in 2015. As you correctly pointed, they are not new recruited trainees. I assume they're in week 4 or something around. They are learning something, not in the process of being forged into soldiers. The froging period is typically during weeks 1 to 3.

The boys were in high school together and were regulars in a series about Korean food (plus some Jolly vids); they graduated the same year. KrnEng/Jolly took them to South Korea partly for a video series but also as a graduation gift. They're now all university students, around 20 years old. Dave (Mr Smith) was their high school headmaster and a longtime close friend of Josh, which is how KE got connected to the school. They still do videos there; there's a current series of students trying American food. Jolly also have a good friend in the British army (forgot his rank but he's at least a commander I think??) whose twin is another close friend of them (and Ollie's brother-in-law)... who is a priest 😆. They did a few videos with the twins with the S. Korean military too (within a series in SK). Funny thing is that it was a surprise so imagine the crew's reaction when their commander friend, once his shock faded, told them to pause everything because he (genuinely) needed clearance from the British military first. 😂
  • I felt really sorry for Armand when i watched this. He got a lot of heat for his nervous laughter but you can tell he is so stressed out, even the way he is standing when they called inspection in the dorms looks like he's hypervigilant and scared of what's happening.
