Some people on AvE's video about his homemade tab welder were interested in seeing a factory made one, luckily I have access to one. Sorry for the shaky footage I had to shoot on my cellphone with not stand/tripod.
Here is a PDF on the machine if interested. I obviously need to read up on it as well. www.amadamiyachi.com/servlet/servlet.FileDownload?…

That's a nice bit of kit! Dialling in settings is a bit of a chew, but when it's right, you can clearly rip through the welds. Also, don't often see 26650 cells in use. Re-celled a pack last week that had them. Stuck in a bunch of mj11 cells, much higher capacity, big weight reduction. It's funny when you recell an old pack, especially if it's ni-mh, wonder if customers think for a moment that they've been ripped off what with the colossal weight reduction lol
  • Definitely does a pretty decent job. The weld dots look quite fine in terms of size. Definitely looks better then I'v seen in some battery packs. Honestly, I think I'd prefer 4-6 smaller weld points instead of 1 or 2 large ones because the connection would have better contact and durability overall. Plus it doesn't look as burnt then. This was quite interesting to see, I'v never seen one being used before.

I thought 1 electrode should be on the battery surface and 1 should be on the tap, so, that the electricity travels between both mating surfaces.
