The teenager suspected of killing two students and two teachers at a high school in Georgia made his first appearance in court Friday morning.

The 14-year-old was arraigned on four counts of felony murder, two days after being taken into custody for the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. The maximum penalty for each count is punishable by death, life without parole, or life with the possibility of parole.

In court, the teenager declined to seek bail. Despite his age, he is being charged as an adult.

The teen had been held at a juvenile detention facility since Wednesday.

I am glad to see that the father will be held accountable in this case. No way a young kid like that should have access to a AR-14.

How does someone get a verbal cue to drop a weapon and others get shot in the back for running away without a weapon?

Theres a lot of us thats been through this type of home life or worse but we dont go out shooting people. The system failed. Sad. But am glad the parents get punished too now.

This is such a heartbreaking story all around. Sending prayers of healing to all those involved and affected by this tragic event.🙏✨🕊️💛
  • Children with substance abuse parents are left to fend for themselves. They can adopt maladaptive behaviors from the environment and at times have delayed development or become parentalized to care for the parent. Referral for social services evaluation should be a standard whenever violent threats are identified to prevent these tragedies

It’s sad when a kid feels that life in prison would be an upgrade to their current situation. 😢

Instead of getting the psychological help he needed. Father gifts him with a war gun. Shame!!
  • I refuse to make excuses for the child like others in this comments section have. A kid knows right from wrong, and many have been brought up in terrible environments without killing others.

Its like going to the dmv. Why waste time and money??? We know he did it and the sentence should be maximum no exception by default
