Male teacher: "Statutory rape" "sexual assault" "sex crimes" Female teacher: "Inappropriate relationship" "misconduct with a student" "affair"

Her sentence: 15 hours community service A man: 4,000 years in prison

A male teacher would be a “rapist”, here it’s just an inappropriate conduct with a student….

I love that whenever it's a Woman it's a romantic relationship instead of child molestation, rape or grooming. At least we have double standards, since we don't have any other kind apparently.

She got 5 yrs probation…if this was a man sleeping with a student they’d put him under the prison. The double standard is disgusting

The previous male teacher will get a harsher sentence than this female teacher.
  • Sickening! Imagine her poor husband. You find out your wife’s cheating on you. As if that’s not bad enough, you find out it was a minor and female!!

I was a high school and college teacher for thirty years. In that time, I've seen some of these "inappropriate relationships". Here's some things they all had in common: 1. The teachers doing this are always very popular with students but have a reputation for being immature. 2. The administration will try to cover it up if they can. The public never hear of the majority of these cases. 3. Men and women offend in roughly equal numbers. 3. Men and women offenders are treated differently. In the last five cases that happened at schools where I taught, three men had sex with students and two women. The three men were all charged criminally; the two women were not. One of the two women had sex with at least eight students and exhibited no remorse. She's married and she and her husband are still together. 4. Teachers who report this bad behavior of their colleagues are punished and ostracized. I know, because I was one of those teachers. I reported a very popular English teacher for having sex with her students after one of the students confided in me. I had to leave the school the following year because I was harassed by staff and administration after she was forced to resign. 5. Most teachers who do this are allowed to quietly resign mid-school year and go on to teach elsewhere. Everyone on staff knows who the offending teachers are, and turn a blind eye. Cops have the Blue Wall of Silence; teachers have the Chalk Wall of Silence.

The double standard in this country is appalling, unfair, and ridiculous. When a man does it’s labeled so much more heinous, but for a woman it sounds like a traffic misdemeanor.

We live in a society with double standards everywhere. 😢
  • The young teachers have a difficult time differentiating that they are adults and they are no longer kids. The obsession in our society with youth is one factor in this problem.

Wow, a female student and a female teacher. Haven't seen that happen before.
  • @davesimpson8045
Remember, male judges are usually very lenient on female teachers due to the judges' "wild imaginations".

I'm always amazed that somebody who would go to the trouble of obtaining their undergraduate and possible graduate degrees, teaching certification etc. would then throw away their entire career by engaging in inappropriate relationship with a Middle/High Schooler.

I feel sorry for the husband that has to go through this!
  • @TehReasoning
Good on that Husband for reporting his wife, even if you're in a marriage you never condone this type of behavior. Hope he gets an good divorce lawyer and finds an actual wife/partner. He probably will get keep the house he work hard for.

Whoever’s screeening the employees and interviewing them needs to be fired asap.

Where were all the teachers like her when I was in high school? My teacher was 60 years old at the time she was nice, smart, helpful, and so strict.
  • @cashstacksg478
Haven't these teachers learned from other people's bad experience with that, risking train-wrecking their marriage and careers? That's the major problem with society right now, some people just can't control those negative impulses. Period.
