Beryl knocked out power to a significant portion of the Houston area but some residents said their bills aren't reflecting the outage.

  • That's easy use previous divide days and minus the amount for days with no power. The company is cheating customers that's obvious.

Sounds like they are estimating and not actually reading what is used very suspicions
  • Greedy Power Companies. Take your money 💰 and can’t even provide quality service. Not even good service.
  • I have them too and they are scammers. They make you get a 5 year contract and the bills keep going up. This company should be investigated further.

Definately time for people to stand up. This is robbery.

This happened to us following the February Freeze and again following Beryl. Reliant showed us using the same amount of power during the days we’re had no power as when we did. Reliant says the problem is with AEP not them.
  • Our bill $520 this month and a week of it had no power. I am seriously wondering if people are stealing our power and we are paying for it!
  • Having the same issue with 4change Energy after being direct hit in Bay City. Smart meter said my most used day was a day I didnt have power for even a single minute
  • After the wind storm in May, our power was out for 3 days. The next month we got a bill that was $100 more than previous month when we had full power. Can’t wait to see how much it goes up for July when we were without power for 8 days! Same with the water bill also. We the customers get to pay for all of this. News flash: they don’t care. We have no choice. If you don’t pay they will just cut off service. They have control over all of us. Thanks
  • khou, This has already been happening way before Beryl. Entergy charged me during that bad snow storm we had & no one had power & people lost their lives, as if it wasn't enough it was during covid & weren't allowed into hospitals when our loved ones where there, but even worse died in there & we couldn’t even be there during those last moments, then here comes a huge electric bill when everyone had no power. Called & complained, that did no good, threatened to bring the story to the news, finally reached corporate with Entergy & the man over the infrastructure told me, if I didn't pay it, then my power would remain off while others were restored. As i explained to him, i know you can see whose power might of been on & whose was not! Made no difference to them. So what choice did I have? I paid. But will never forget. It's pure criminal..
  • I got rid of just energy two years ago ,they were charging me late fees even though i was never late . Trash company with rude people from other countries answering the phone ..if they do at all.
  • @user-gf5fb1zi6u
These companies are little distributors to reliant. All the same criminals
  • I’ve noticed that my distribution expense has gone up, 48 to 52 dollars but always pay attention to additional charges.

If they are billing her for estimated usage in June-July (possibly because a meter reading wasn't available), wouldn't this extra, paid for but not used power be subtracted in the next billing cycle?
  • @K9zz
it's called pro-rating the bill, it's a huge problem everywhere now, make some noise about it other wise it will get worse
  • All electric companies pull the same price scam. We even done the LED changeover like recommended. Our Kw hours only went down marginally, but the bill amount was more. As usual when asked, they couldn’t understand why and would look into it. It’s been over a year now and they are still looking into it.

I had Just Energy before and they are JUST A SCAM!
