The Shoulder Fix Program:

If you have shoulder/neck pain and trigger points that are consistent with the fibromyalgia diagnosis, these exercises may be helpful for relieving the shoulder tension and increasing your overall comfort levels.

Matt suffered with constant shoulder/neck tension and pain (among other areas) for years. These exercises have proven to be very helpful for relieving constant neck and shoulder tension - much more so than conventionally used neck stretches.

These are the exercises with sets and reps:

Scapular retraction --- 3 sets x 10 reps
Shrugs --- 3 sets x 10 reps
Arm circles --- 10 - 40 reps
Side lateral raises --- 3 sets x 10 reps
Dumbbell overhead press --- 3 sets x 5-10 reps

I went ahead and did the maximum reps on these, and I felt relief I hadn’t in years. Thank you, I’m crying currently

As tension releases, tears roll down. Thank you so much 🙏

These are wonderful exercises and explained in a clear, easy to understand fashion. My one concern is that for those with serious fibromyalgia the suggested reps given here are way too high and can cause severe fatigue and set back. Not tryin to discourage folks from trying, just wish that this was brought up and factored in. He did say "listen to your body" numerous times but as a person that has lived with fibromyalgia for yrs that is often hard to do. Hearing it put this way, ex. U may be a little sore ... isn't quite realistic. If I were to do these recommended reps I would then be in bed for the day. I hope to see more videos of this type that show ways to moderate the exercise(s) in ways and amts that work for those who are more seriously affected by fibromyalgia and other health issues.

Thank you so much! I know you're super busy and this was an old video, but I am an avid subscriber and you have helped me a lot. Do you think you could make any more videos specifically for Fibromylgia? Perhaps a lower body one? I don't mind, anything you upload helps me so much! Thanks a million

Omg i just tried them in my bed. I already feel relief. Huge relief. I had extremely bad tension which was killing my shoulders and neck.
  • Thank you!! Please keep making videos to help people with chronic pain and muscle weakness to strengthen up! Pain sucks, life shouldn’t 💪🏼
  • Thank you. I am having a very painful flareup and these exercises have eased it enormously ❤

You’re the best, Matt Hsu. Your exercises suggested here are so simple yet sooooo effective. Who would have thought! And you explained them very clearly. I do the scapular retractions and shrugs anytime of the day I have a moment. I thank you so very much. My shoulders are feeling relief as they never have. Honestly, I was already researching for a physiotherapist to help. I’m glad I didn’t go ahead because yours helped tremendously after 2 times and once of your other video “The One Shoulder Exercise Everyone Should Do”. Thank you again. 🙏

Excellent. I suffered from the same symptoms as yours for over 30 years. My doctors, who are great, got tired of seeing me and they really did not know how to help me. It took me a very long time of trial and error to reach the same conclusions you figured out. I am now past the beginner stage and I find your channel to be very helpful. I encourage anyone who sees this video to give it a try. These exercises really work to get a handle on the pain and to progress to the next level. Thanks
  • They once were here and now they are gone. As we will once be. Makes you appreciate each day ❤

Wow! Thank you so, so much!!! I don’t comment that often but these exercises are an instant relief for my shoulder-neck-pain-things! Not pain free but really, really better and it’s so super important that you take this serious, thanks a lot! Greetings from Germany

Hi! I have had Fibromyalgia for about 4 years now and i have suffered pain mainly in my legs, arms, wrists and hands. But over the last few months pain has been progressing all over my body even places I don`t want it. I get very tired throughout the day and walking down town is a constant struggle so i am limited but I am trying to do it more often now. I have been getting really bad pain on the shoulder blades and neck lately and I didn`t think it was the Fibromyalgia to start off with but it is really painful and pain killers don`t work. I will use a hot water bottle on the location to help it, but it doesn`t go away. I came across your you tube on shoulder and neck exercises, I have only had chance to try it once so far, but it really has helped and i managed to do your set amount. I have still got a little pain but I will be doing them frequently and thank you for making the time to help us all. I couldn`t do the weight exercises though as I have 2 heart conditions and i know you shouldn`t use weights with Heart conditions but I will check with my GP.

Thank you so much for this video. I've spent the last 7 months struggling with what started as tight neck muscles, headaches and dizzyness and escalated into sharp shoulder pains that spread into both arms, wrists and fingers and eventually spread into my legs, knees, and ankles as well. The worst of the pain and stiffness is in my shoulders and neck, but physical therapy hasn't been helping so far. I started the shoulder exercises you demonstrated and plan to continue them. Thank you so much again.

Hi there, I suffer from fibro and I'm really happy that someone took the time to explain how to relieve this kind of pain. I started pilates a few weeks ago, which feels way better than being sedentary, but still is kinda hard on me. Thank you!
