No matter what Fallout game you play, the Maxson name will make an appearance, whether it be in a diary or holotape, in the flesh or mentioned by someone else, a name belonging to those who created and maintained one of the most influential and well known factions in Fallout. But not many people know the history of the Maxson Family, a family which starts with Roger Maxson.

  • I love how the Brotherhood of Steel is like a few months older than the Great War making it technically a Pre-War organization
  • @Al3xtheMeh
Imagine if the Maxson line ends purely because a chem-junkie from the past decided to kill him purely to get his cool coat.
  • Not sure if It's canon, but I wanted that coat so the Maxon bloodline definitely ended
  • Arthur Maxson is 20 years old during the events of fallout 4 so it makes sense that he has no heirs
  • You have no idea how badly I needed this right now. Thank you for at least giving me a chance to get out of my own head for 25 minutes.

“There must always be, an Elder Maxson.”
  • @Chinalakesnake
So basically basically Nate was serving while Roger Maxson was

I really like the irony of an event of a Brotherhood Elder being brought down by a poisoned arrow. It shows that beneath the tech and steel, these are just mortal men like any other. And that incident of dying in a moment of brief vulnerability would drive the other Brotherhood members deeper into technology as a faith.
  • What is crazy about Fallout 4 is Arthur is only 20 years old leading an entire factor of men and women. His childhood, growing up around soldiers in the Citadel very much so hardened him and made him very mature. I’d expect him to continue to lead the Brotherhood as they expand up and down the East coast. The canon ending for Fallout 4 very much could be the Minutemen ending.
  • I remember always bullying Maxson in Fallout 3, He didn't turn out so well

I personally feel the brotherhood ending is the most cannon as it would naturally have to be the railroad minutemen and the BOS because all three of those endings end the institute. The railroad, while one of my favorite fractions, is unable to fight the BOS outwardly at all and the Minutemen would honestly probably join hands with the BOS as the more "protect the people" group compared the BOS with their desire to retain technology

I think Arthur Maxson is deeply misunderstood by a large group of the player base. To be fair that's on BGS for the way you interact with him and the way they presented him. I found once you dive deep into this version of the BOS you see they are acheving incredible things and many of the improvements and reforms are directly from Maxson.
  • Arthur Maxson definitely would have worked with the minutemen after fallout 4s ending as they essentially had the same goal, as synths were definitely a threat to humanity, so I hope they keep him alive for the next fallout perhaps he might fully connect the brotherhood across the entirety of America.

I'd like to think the canon ending to Fallout 4 is where Nate/Nora convinces Maxon to let them use the Minutemen to kill the Institute instead of "Risking Brotherhood lives". Depending on your main faction quest order, you can finish the game with the Railroad faction surviving, The Brotherhood surviving but being salty they were not the ones to assault the institute, and the Minutemen taking down the synth threat and reclaiming their reputation of the Commonwealths protectors. This way we don't have the full fanatic BoS ending where they take out the Railroad AND mess with the Minutemen. Pretty well seems like the good ending and leaves the door open to Maxon surviving and continuing the Eastern Brotherhood in more games. We have the victimized synths surviving and going on to make their own lives instead of all being purged.

My honest opinion is that Arthur Mason's BoS is perhaps the best lore to come out of fallout 4. The show touches on that but to truly see Maxson's brotherhood that essentially is, feels like, and acts like a state to interact with the west coast one would be hella cool.
  • It hurts my heart to think of lonely young Arthur and his only friend being a giant android. Only for him to be rebuked so harshly that he would carry an intense resentment towards machines into his adulthood. It explains why he was so unusually furious during the Blind Betrayal arc :(
  • @ashegaming3530
With what we've seen in the Fallout show, it seems to imply at least one of two endings is canon with the Prydwens appearance. Either an overall Brotherhood victory, or a Minuteman victory with a peaceful brotherhood outcome

😂now we all know damn well that Arthur won’t be the last Maxon, if he’s dead with no kids then Todd Howard will discover his long lost cousin, Jim Bob Maxon😂
