the theme song from the dvd menu. there is no full version of this song... sorry,
The director Camaron Crowe asked his wife (Nancy Wilson) to make a short theme for the DVD menu.

I keep coming back this every now and then. The melody and the way the violin was processed/mixed is hauntingly beautiful and mournful.

Its been 14 years since I first heard this.
  • I remember I was dating a girl and I invited her over to watch this movie. We both loved the film of course, and things started to get intimate as the credits rolled. The disc eventually looped back to the main menu, where this song played over and over and over again. It definitely set an unforgettable mood ;)

I wish we had a 10 hour looped version of this..

ha, there was a whole group of us back then trying to find this track. i spent hours (as i'm sure you did) looking for little scraps of info on random message boards for a couple years. just happened to try once more today and here it is on Youtube.

I just picked up the Blu Ray and I'm severely disappointed and saddened that they didn't include the absolutely stunning menus that came along with the DVD from about decade ago, and instead gave it a completely bland and miserable menu. It just blows me away, in a bad way, how some gems from the early 2000s and late 90s had these excellent double disc sets that enhanced and respected the viewing experience, but now these films have been treated so poorly in their release on Blu Ray. I'm still crossing my fingers that any semblance of Perfect Blue, The Beach and The Last Minute hit the states in some form. I'm still happy I got the Blu-Ray of Vanilla Sky, because the picture quality is pretty nice, definitely not the best out there, but it just sucks that Cameron Crowe and similar directors no longer have any influence on their films on Blu-Ray, and the studios just poop out mediocre copies. I should have never, ever, ever gotten rid of my awesome dvd collection. fml.

I'm so glad you uploaded this video. The first time I watched this movie was the morning after an intense Robitussin trip. When we popped in the dvd and this music started, I felt like I had entered another world! I remember scouring the net trying to hear this later on but never finding it(not on the soundtrack). So thankis a lot for putting it up here!

Thank you for posting. This is one of those really rare songs that evokes a lot of emotion but didnt get the full length treatment. Kinda like Dance from Requiem but on the opposite spectrum. =)

For some reason, this gives a real Myst vibe
