Ingredients:
1 lb Ground pork
2 packages of shredded cabbage/slaw mix or you can cut your own from a head of cabbage.
Whites from green onions (about 3 green onions) - Save the tops for later
1 Tablespoon Ginger Paste or a thumb of ginger
2 -3 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons hoisin
2 -3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
1-2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Drizzle of sesame oil (optional)
1-2 tablespoons butter
1-2 tablespoons Olive and Avocado Oil Blend

Steps:

On a pre-warmed griddle around 375-400 degrees, place ground pork on the left side of the griddle. After 2-3 mins, turn and chop up well.
Apply 1 tablespoons of oil onto the griddle and add the two bags of cabbage to the oil. Saute this until it's wilted and has a some color to it. Around 3-4 minutes. Add the green onion bottoms to this mixture.
Add the pork to the cabbage and incorporate well.
After incorporating, add the ginger and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Next add the hoisin and soy sauce and mix well.
Give this a taste and then adjust. Add salt and pepper if needed.
Add rice wine vinegar and give this a good mix.
Remove from the griddle, serve, and enjoy.

"Why? ...because BUTTER is GOOD!" 🤣🤣🤣 Truer words were never spoken!!!

This is exactly how my husband makes Japanese noodles. It's crack slaw with ramen noodles. One of our favorite things!
  • I love hearing that saying about "good groceries". My dad used to say that all the time. He passed one year ago. My mom just 1 month ago. 😢 Its the little things that make you smile. Thank you!
  • Cabbage stirfry!!! That’s what I always call it. Switch it up with any meat type - even sliced coins of kielbasa!!! Yummmm

I make fried cabbage using the bagged coleslaw. In a large skillet put 2-3 bags of coleslaw, one yellow onion, 1 stick of butter and 1 tbsp bacon drippings, and 2 cans of Rotel. Cook for about 20-30 minutes! Yum!!!
  • 40 years ago, my Thai sister taught me to use Jimmy Dean sausage (original flavor) and cabbage with soy sauce to make pretty much this same dish (the sausage is already seasoned up nicely). We serve it over rice as a main dish and use it as filling in egg rolls. A family favorite for decades!

I love serving using green leaf lettuce or butter lettuce as a wrapper and turn this into a bit of a spring roll cuz who doesn’t love finger food, am I right? 😂

I got a tip from an Indian cook on here (YT). I chop up/processor fresh ginger..put it in ice cube trays for an hour then throw them in a container to use whenever. That’s what I used for this dish after looking up the ingredients in commercial paste. Nasty most of them. Straight ginger in this recipe was awesome. Great recipe. Thanks!

You can't go wrong with anything cabbage, ginger or garlic. I'm smelling and tasting this through the screen and MY MOUTH IS WATERING!

If using sesame oil, be sure to get the toasted sesame oil & not the regular. The regular is more for cooking. The toasted is for flavoring & adds a delicious slightly smokey flavor. Many dishes you get in Chinese/Asian restaurants use toasted sesame oil. Definitely try it in a small portion of your dish & taste before putting it in the whole dish, if you aren't familiar with it. Just like anything you cook... it's all in what you like.

Sprinkle some Rice Krispies on top!! Sorry, I'm high right now.
  • You can do crack slaw SO many ways. We've made it with Italian sausage and a little marinara at the end, ground beef with taco seasoning, leftover pork shoulder with green chile sauce, you can't really do it wrong. You don't need a big griddle, a 12" pan with a lid works great. The lid steams the cabbage if you like it cooked soft. Sometimes I cook just a whole head of cabbage with some butter, uncovered on medium high until it just starts to brown and use it as a side.

looks amazing! I bet a squeeze of lime over a serving of it would be chef kiss

I'd like to make a recommendation on this. Add in some super thin cut steak that's been marinated over night in a mix of chili powder, lemon juice, A1, and ginger. You'll have to play with the marinade mix a bit for personal preference, but grill the steak and chop it up first before you start adding the pork to the mix that way the flavors can really mix in and play together.
  • I make something similar, been doing this for years. Only difference is i use the trimmings from when i process my own beef tenderloin. Nothing goes to waste. I cut out breads, and lived on that as my main meal for 30 days, and lost 30 pounds. And it’s delish…good job dude.👍🏼😉

This is a very good Keto recipe too. Thank you for making this video. It looks delicious!
  • This reminds me of Hispanic dish called picadillo. Add cabage, ground beef, and finely diced potatoes. Seasonings: salt, pepper and annatto paste. Serve with white rice.

It's ironic; I was searching for more of the traditional style of coleslaw dressing recipes. I came across this video and almost passed, but my spider senses started tingling!!! I'm glad I listened because I've actually been looking for this style of coleslaw recipe for a long time. I'm cooking it tonight along with pan seared / blackened catfish. So, thank you for the recipe, and wish me luck!!!
  • @30firebirds
I found this recipe less than a month ago and am making it for the fourth time tonight. The original ground pork version is great, but I've also used ground chicken and shrimp. Tonight's version will include bite-sized cubed chicken, and it'll be some good groceries.
