GQ didn't even ask Jocko to come. He just showed up and started talking about war movies ...

Jocko was talking out of experience when he said “Everyone has a breaking point”. His interrogator had his.

A few years before I joined the Navy I watched Saving Private Ryan with my granddad who drove tanks in Korea for the Marines. He was quiet through the whole thing, looking contemplative but when Tom Hanks is injured towards the end of the flick and shoots at the tank with his pistol Papa smiled and said "it doesn't matter if they have a bazooka or a sling shot, everybody shoots at the tank."

Some facts about Jocko: 1. Jocko lost his virginity before his parents 2. When he was eighteen years old Jocko decided to live by himself and his parents moved to another house 3. Jocko’s father is named Jocko Junior 4. Jocko helped the nurses when he was born 5. It is impossible for Jocko to have a heart attack. Nothing is stupid enough to attack Jocko 6. In schools, teachers used to raise their hands to talk to Jocko 7. Once, Jocko missed two days of school in a row. These days then became known as Saturday and Sunday.

Jocko destroyed the periodic table, he only recognises the element of surprise.

When Jocko was born, the first thing to come out was suppressive fire
  • My grandpa Fred DesRosier was a Marine Scout Sniper in 2nd Marine Div. He was part of several beach landings in the pacific including Tarawa, his elite unit actually swam into the island at night a day before the landing, and posted guard and protection for the landing. They were also the first to have bloched cammies and later the first troops to take over Nigasaki after the bomb. He survived through ptsd, malaria, shrapnel and atomic bombs and lived to be 91 passing in 2016.

I had two uncles who were in D-Day; one of them had nightmares about it until the day he died. Thank you Jocko.

Jocko seems like the kind of guy who would randomly tell u the most heart-wrenching, unstably dark and devious yet motivating story and then offer u lollipop

When Jocko goes to the club, the bouncers show him their id’s
  • Hearing him say “And I am sitting in my studio REMOTELY” sent chills up my spine 😳
  • They didn't ask for him to show up again, he just walked in and told them to start filming

When Jocko is late to class, his teacher apologizes for being too early.

I've worked alongside Scottish troops that, whilst in Division, weren't elite, some were detached..most of them went into horrible situations, mostly Northern Ireland and the former Yugoslavia. They told me a trick for surviving interrogation - "You won't, it's a game of time."
  • @BigFatCone
Without missing a beat: " And 2. Becausse it's funny-". Man, I really like this guy.
