Camera Comparison - GoPro HERO 6, Yi 4K, iPhone X, Nikon D5300 (With Post Processing)

Published 2018-06-07
All footage synced and saturated in Final Cut Pro X for side by side comparison. Some additional post processing was added to compensate for white balance and exposure. Footage is zoomed and cropped so the detail can be compared between the cameras.

A plain version is available where no further attempt was made to color balance, zoom, or adjust levels.
That version can be found here:    • Camera Comparison - GoPro HERO 6, Yi ...

In the interest of forming unbiased opinions, the footage is not labelled until the end of the video. The cameras compared are:
Top Left: Yi 4K - 4K@30FPS (lens corrected in post)
Bottom Left: GoPro HERO 6 - 4K@60FPS (flat color profile, lens corrected in post)
iPhone X - 4K@60FPS
Nikon D5300 - 1080@60FPS

The Akoso EK7000 was supposed to be on the comparison, but the micro SD card I used caused the camera to freeze after 17 seconds of recording.
An iPhone 6S was also recorded simultaneously, but without the Akoso it seemed like it would be too much trouble to compare.

The audio sample on the GoPro were amplified by 10db for a more direct comparison.

Both the iPhone X and the Nikon may have optical image stabilization for their footage built into the hardware. Electronic image stabilization was not enabled for either the Yi 4K or the GoPro Hero 6.
