We hope you enjoy this version of the build as we experiment with stripping down the "extras" in our videos to allow for more candid conversations, scenes we would have typically cut, the natural background of nature + tools and more real time, real life experience. Today we work on sheathing the largest roof and tackle issues at our small businesses.

We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and the buiness/work related side of our life can be found on our secondary channel "Josh and Erin- The After Show". Here you will see us renovating our Cafe, opening/operating the Cafe with goods from our farm, building/furnishing/running our short term rentals, finding/operating our other real estate investments and more. • I don’t know but 2 women that will get out and work like you do. Josh married one and I married the other in 1966. We built our house by ourselves and we’re still together and working every day, just not this hard. I’m 79, she is 77. I hope you and Josh have a wonderful life together like us. The A frame is going to be BEAUTIFUL.
  • My dear Aunt & Uncle married directly after WW2 in 1947 and they have always worked well together in every house and business they’ve had (across the world)since then. Both very clever at building and decorating etc and rarely ever needed help. Sadly my uncle has passed but my Aunt is still alive and well, 103 years old!

I love how Josh continually encourages Erin and praises her through the monumental task at hand! These two wonderful people are the true definition of a power couple!!! I love them both!❤

About 25 years ago my husband and I put in a large kitchen sink together and our marriage almost ended in divorce over that debacle, I can laugh now. I have watched you both almost since the beginning and the wisdom and maturity that you "share together" brightens up this world. Many thanks to your Family.
  • You are making that complicated roof construction look easy, but I have so much admiration for Erin, she is so strong and tackles anything. You are such a lucky guy Josh!
  • @poodlegirl55
My husband and I never built a house but we have remodeled seven in our 50 year marriage. Nice to see a couple work so well together.
  • @martinvho
I'm hurting right now, won't bore you with the details. Just wanted to say that having the distraction of watching you guys build a better life helps. Thank you.
  • @tknoerle1451
I see how truly secure you both are... but I could NEVER EVER do that roof work... not even for 5 minutes. My hat is off to EACH of you for tackling ALL THAT ROOF WORK!!!!! My prayers remain with you both. Luv ya both!
  • I take nothing away from Josh, he's as solid an anchor as you could ever ask for, but I wonder how this project would have gone without Erin's love, strength, will and humor?
  • I'll give you this - you don't skimp on safety precautions. That sets my mind at ease. I get nervous when you're up high like this. Felt a little Mount Everesty there for a while. You guys are moving along at breakneck speeds. Keep up the good work. See you soon.
  • @Mounty621
ERIN!! You are a BEAST!! No extra glute and hamstring workout needed for you today after driving all those sheets of zip board up that roof. You two are a phenomenal team.
  • @IR-nq4qv
Awesome job you guys are doing on the roof. One thing is for sure, you'll never have to worry about a snow load.
  • @Tonyd5996
Erin, every time I see you I am absolutely amazed. The amount of hard manual labour that you do with Josh is incredible. Thanks for all of your videos. Oh, Josh, keep laughing it always makes me laugh when you do.
  • Glad to see safety first with harness.Love your family, don't want to lose you to accidents. Worked in Operating Room for 40 years, and saw my share of accidents.
  • @bustinya2240
Can't believe Erin can man handle those 4x8 sheets of plywood. Truly amazing wife. The things you two pull off with no experience is awesome. A Family that should be very proud of themselves.
  • You good folks constantly amaze me with you energy, persistence and creativity. Great parent role models too!
  • @timrees2670
What a wonderful team. So in tune with each other ❤
