  • Man I love how I can drop out of the scene for years at a time, pop into this channel for 15 minutes, and have a solid bead on what all the manufacturers are up to. Never change Justin. 'Preciate ya buddy.

You are so good at breaking down the pros and cons of each kit and, more importantly, showing why a certain kit for 1 person may not be right for someone else. Job Well Done!!!!
  • @guycosmo
I just bought the Roland TD-27KV2 and I'm super happy with it! And I made that decision after watching HOURS of this channel to help me narrow down my decision, so thank you!
  • I'm sticking with the TD-17KVX because it really does everything I need to stay entertained and up my game. Metronome, music input and a great selection of sets to keep me motivated. The big plus is that I don't disturb anyone else in the house. Love your channel.

Your videos are exceptionally well written and edited. Great information. Drums are not my primary instrument, but I love them just the same, and would like to get the next level kit soon...so your tips are helping.

I bought a EFNOTE 5 one year ago and then added a 14' crash and a 12' floor tom down the road. It ended up being cheaper than buying a EFNOTE 5X. This edrum is outstanding. HH triggering is superbe, playability and feel are excellant and most important of all, it's a blast to play!!
  • Super Informative! I get really excited when you release a video.
  • @regiomartins
The ATV EXS-5 should be on this list. Amazing quality, components and sizes (13" snare and floor tom, 10" toms, 2 crashes and 1 ride cymbal). Trigger accuracy is perfect, and the optical 14" hi-hat is very sensitive and realistic. The module has everything you need, and is really easy to record yourself and play songs. Definitely the best for $2000.

I ended up with the Efnote 5. Great kit and I've started to expand it. I liked the white sparkle better than the dull black wrap and being mainly an acoustic drummer before this, it's been really nice having a more traditional set up than the edrum drum racks. I also found it to have some of the best most natural sounds that I've been able to try out in a store. I'm sure Roland competes just fine, especially in that price range, but everything I got to try in store was usually Alesis and Simmons, and I really didn't like the vast majority of drum sounds.

I've had the Alesis Strike Pro SE since 2019 ( upgraded from an old Roland TDE-7T ), I absolutely love this kit. I am a heavy handed rock/metal drummer and have used this kit to record all of our releases. It was the sizes of the pads and kick that drew me towards it, the module having individual outputs for recording is what sold me. To mention the internal trigger changes from the old Strike Pro, they replaced the plastic plate with metal. never had any issues with the drums themselves. The only issue I ever had was 2 years in, was the ride bell trigger broke..again because i'm heavy handed and I was hitting on the ribbon and it broke. Sweetwater replaced it for me and now I just make sure I rotated where the ribbon is to not smash it. The hi-hat as he said in the video , if set up properly, there's no issues, with that said, I no longer use the hi-hat trigger that came with the SPSE, I went to a stationary hi hat set up using an older alesis hi-foot pedal. I didn't need the HH cymbal moving up and down on an e-kit. I have now expanded the kit to have 6 toms, 2 kicks, 2 hi hats, ride and 7 cymbals, with plenty of room for more expansion. ( purchased a second kick and module ) it also works flawlessly with Superior Drummer 3 ( SD3 sounds were used on our newest release, so all previous releases were the stock Alesis Kits).

I’ve owned 4 Roland kits and my favourite electronic kit for practice purposes is the Yamaha DTX6 silicone. It was relatively inexpensive and the sounds and sound shaping exceed my other kits in terms of practical usage. The big thing for me is the tracking of my playing accuracy. Nothing has done more for my chops than this feature. It’s like having a hard core teacher keeping me in line as it exposes all my weaknesses. For hybrid live playing it’s the Roland TM6. Killer module at a bargain price and the most unsung hero of the drumming world in my opinion.
  • After several months of research, many hours reading and watching reviews, comparing sounds and features, etc., for all the major E-Drum players, I just bought the Alesis Strike Pro SE kit, for three reasons. First, I got it brand new for $2,200. Second, In my opinion it has the best sounds of any module on the market other than the Pearl Mimic. Third, you can load your own MULTI samples to create totally custom kits. I won't be setting them up until after Christmas so we shall see if I made the right choice. I currently have a Roland TD-17 kit which is fine, sounds decent, but the small drum and cymbal pads are a little outdated and I just wanted a change.
  • Very happy with my Efnote 7. Added an extra cymbal. I gig with acoustic drums, so it's important for me to practice on a kit that feels as close as possible without upsetting anyone else in the house. Having messed around with low volume hybrid set-ups, this is the keeper.

Great videos! I'd like to recommend right after your intro of what you'll be discussing and just before the main stuff, do the thanking of your Patreons portion. Personally, I think it goes a long way.
  • @jeffdean277
I'm surprised that there were no ATV kits on here.
  • Good stuff. I completely agree with the Titan 50 assessment. Definite buy! That 1250 though…. I think spending more time with it and you’ll agree with me that it’s really better than most in the category.
  • @GurtyVideos
Love the content. Very informative video. Recently sold my acoustic to move into a condo and now am looking into electronic. Really considering the efnote 3x
  • Justin, Merry X'mas & happy new year to you & your family. For the most fun, nothing beat's a decent acoustic kit with nice cymbals. Agree with most of your selections. For me there is really only 2 choices. The Simmons Titan 50 currently on sale for $379.99 & The Roland 27KV-2. I have yet to play a better electronic snare/hi-hat/ride cymbal than those Roland Digital pads.. In-fact that will be next kit I buy. Thanks for posting.
