Saw Buck Rogers in the theater as a kid, liked the ships, effects and the cheese.

All of these folks from this era are true artists and professional’s they made some of the most iconic and memorable models in movie history… quite simply thank you for those memories 👍
  • @Lumibear.
Those kinds of simple yet genius moves of just painting something matte yellow to resolve a blue spill problem then optically correcting it to white later are why I love watching these.

I'm 55. When I was a kid I devoured Famous Monsters and Starlog which weren't always available where I lived on the East Coast of Canada. I built models and destroyed them,. I was always a fan of special effects. My life path didn't end up leading me there but i did study art, sculpture in particular (marble, bronze, ceramic, lot's of mold making). I'm working on a large piece right now. I love watching these interviews. Listening to the artists and technicians just talking shop makes me really wish I could have been there with them. Love and respect.

The part with the dangerous blades cracked me up, especially after I heard that story how the camera crew messed up that star wars destroyer by not turning on its ventilation.
  • In 1980 I was an intern on the camera crew that had done the Airport movies - they had recently come off “Concorde Airport 79” and said the production switched to more special effects work after their aerial shoot showed the real Concorde looked like a model anyway. They were also excited about the supposed next one in the series called “Airport 85” or similar that featured the Space Shuttle.
  • Thx piercefilm productions Now I can see and listen to the people that made much I’ve seen as kid. And still do. Guess today’s evening is concord time.

The Starfighter is one good looking ship! I read somewhere that the Starfighter from Buck Rogers was really going to be the Colonial Viper from BSG. When you look at the Starfighter, it looks like a Viper! ✌
  • “Sir, the camera guys broke off another antenna!“ “Bring me the Sword of Exact Zero!”
  • @freedone.
Now everything is done by computer. I used to devour Starlog and Cinefex.
