Santa Cruz Guitar Co. Happy Traum Signature Model HT/13 | Acoustic Guitar Review

Published 2021-10-06
Guitarist/educator Sean McGowan demos the new Happy Traum Signature Model HT/13 from the Santa Cruz Guitar Company. Says McGowan, “This guitar checks all the sonic boxes: sonorous, piano-like clarity; evenness of tone in all registers; and a controlled responsiveness balanced with cannon-like projection.” Read the full review in the November/December 2021 issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine or online here: acousticguitar.com/guitar-review-santa-cruz-ht-13-…

Sounds great. I love slotted headstocks as well. For some reason you don't see them as much any more.
  • Gracias por la información!, bellísima guitarra; y gran sonido jugada sin las uñas! por McGowan
  • I'm not a guitar player but I've always wanted to learn. One thing that has always bothered me about how some people play is the squeaking and scraping over the string. Dragging your fingers down the string during a note change sounds awful to me. It masks the beautiful warm vibration that the guitar is trying to make. During good guitar playing, you should not hear the mechanics of the fingers strumming the strings, just the notes that the guitar makes.
  • I was fortunate enough to purchase one of these when first released....BUT...while it was being shipped to me in mid-September, I fell and dislocated my shoulder and it will be months before I can even contemplate playing it as I will most likely need a shoulder replacement. Talk about a frustrating point in life...sigh. It checks all the boxes for this player.

it sounds really nice but you get a lot of finger squeak with the right hand. Is it the strings maybe?
