Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the biggest rock bands of all time. With Tom Fogerty on rhythm guitar, Stu Cook on bass, Doug Clifford on drums, and John Fogerty writing their songs while providing lead guitar and lead vocals as well, CCR blazed like a comet through the pop culture sky, churning out hits like "Green River," "Suzie Q," "Proud Mary," "Born on the Bayou," "Bad Moon Rising," "Lodi," "Down on the Corner," "Fortunate Son," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" in an incandescent four year period.

And then in 1972 they suddenly broke up in an acrimonious battle that has continued for nearly five decades. Why? Here's the untold truth of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

What's your favorite Creedence Clearwater Revival song?

I saw John perform just a few years ago . Unbelievable energy! The band sued Fogerty for Old Man Down The Road. He asked, "How can I plagiarize myself?" He won the case.
  • My favorites: Midnight Special, Lodi, Someday Never Comes, Up Around The Bend, Who'll Stop The Rain, Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Fortunate Son, and SusieQ, Hey Tonight
  • Credence Clearwater Revival, has some of THE best music ever written, and they have so many great song's! "Run Through the Jungle", "Have you ever seen the Rain", "Susie Q", "Fortunate Son" & "Green River". Just a few of many, great song's! Appreciated the video, informative and interesting. Here's a bit of trivia for you straight from Casey Kasem. What Rock group had more #2 hits than any other band in history, but never had a Billboard #1 hit? Despite outselling even the Beatles for a time the answer of course is Creedence Clearwater Revival.

John Foggerty, the best voice in rock ever. I hate that John stopped any reunions, but I can understand why. Think about it, you write, and play your heart out and some record executive takes the money and credit.

  • I have not listened to CCR in 30 years but was a big fan of them in college. It was always my cleaning music — pop in the cassette and get moving!

Good video. I never saw them in concert, but I still play their music. Thanks for the bookmarks. I wish more people would use them.

This is the first rock band I was exposed to in my life. Dad had us listening to these guys at seven years old. So I go back to at least 1988 with CCR.

1970 - 2022 CELEBRATING 52 YEARS SINCE THE RELEASE OF "COSMO'S FACTORY", THE GREATEST STUDIO-RECORDED ALBUM IN ROCKNROLL HISTORY 🎸
  • I always luv uguys from the sixties and seventies my favorite song down on the corner
  • I finally found out how n why CCR had split apart, especially the story between John n his bro Tom. It's so heartbreaking n unfortunate. They definitely were one of the greatest bands n John had such a great n unique sound. That's so sad how they had split up n John wouldn't allow the original band to be inducted in the Hall of Fame, I feel that they all had made CCR one of the greatest bands that they were. God bless each of the original band members* They've always been one of my favorite bands ever since I was 12 yrs old.
