JRPGs don't get more legendary than Final Fantasy X. A game with staggering influence that would define the genre for decades. After 21 years, I have finally played this game from start to finish. I would love to give you the TLDR, but this is Retro Rebound's longest video yet. With that much to say, I'll have the video do the speaking for me on where I lie with one of the most loved games of all time.

When people aren't sent to the far plane they eventually become fiends. It was very clearly explained in the game.

As someone who's father left when I was tiny kid, this game really spoke to me with the whole relationship between Titus and Sin

I see everyone talking about how great the story/characters/battle system is in FF10 but I think what truly makes it great is the musical score. If To Zanarkand doesn't make you feel anything then you must be dead inside.
  • One of the greatest games of all time. There is no debate to be had on this.

I own this game on PS2, PS3, PS4 , and a physical copy on my Xbox. This game is legendary. Best story telling I’ve seen.

FFX just gives me a vibe I can’t describe. The musical score, characters, combat. It’s literally a masterpiece.
  • For a time in my life I didn't get overly emotionally involved in pretty much ANYTHING. As a child and early teen I was hyper emotional but in late teens to early 20's that just seemed to stop. THIS game actually opened up my closed off emotions with the scene where Tidus disappears and Yuna's confession of love. The way she composes herself after falling through him and you think she'll just lay there forever; then saying she loves him without looking at him. Heart breaking.
  • I love that, in a way, the game foreshadows Tidus being an Aeon from the first couple of minutes. The only entities you're allowed to name freely in FFX are the Aeons, and he just so happens to be our first one. Cheeky :)

19:55 This question was explained when Yuna performs the first Sending you witness after a Sin attack near the beginning of the game. Spirits which don’t get Sent eventually turn into the fiends you’ve spent the entire game fighting. Auron and Seymour just have the willpower to resist that devolution for a while.
  • I heavily disagree that the sphere grid system is “drawn out” and leveling should happen “quietly in the background”,what I dislike the most about modern jrpgs is that I have no agency on my characters getting stronger,it’s just grinding to see a number go up,just get the number as high as the lvl gated content requires, that’s it, and at this point just get rid of leveling,it’s redundant and pointless, either involve the player in the process or get rid of it.
  • Ff10 arguably has one of the best stories in the entire catalog of jrpgs.

I played for the first time this year too (HD Remaster on Switch). Wow, just wow. Incredible experience and not just one of the best JRPG's I've ever played, but one of the best games period.

Tidus isn’t refusing to die he’s a memory brought to life by the fayth to fight sin he’s basically a summon he only exists in this time because the fayth will him to exist. It’s like he’s a xerox of the orginal tidus and gains new memories and experiences

FFX was immaculate, I remember playing itfor 3 days straight when it released. Near the end it was really challenging. There was so much to unlock, secret best weapons etc. The story was perfect, emotional, intriguing, deception. The graphics were INSANE for that time. Training too in omega ruins for sphere nodes, saving up 40 or so and then using them all, filling in blank nodes with the best spheres available. Just perfect, and if you dislike this game then I don't know what's wrong with you.
  • I've played all of the FFs excluding FF 1-5, and FFX is my favorite. The music, story, gameplay are all so good. The ending haunted me as a child. One of the few games that actually made me cry.
  • I remember leveling up for hours and I would switch every character out and attack once then keep switching them out and using my main 3 so everyone got XP. Ah the good old days

FFX is still probably my favorite game of all time. No game has compared to this experience when I was 11 years old, haha. I put 700 hours into my first playthrough and about 400 of that was blitzball.
