Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is our favorite hidden gem in Florida located around 1.5 hours west of Orlando. Up-close encounters with manatees are the highlight but there's also a Wild Walk where you can check out Lu (the oldest hippo in captivity), Florida panther, red wolf, black bear, bobcat, alligators, and more. A unique underwater structure, the Underwater Observatory allows visitors to "walk underwater" beneath the spring's surface.
