How the Most Underrated Food Prep Stocks My Pantry Faster, Cheaper, Fresher! |August Pantry Chat

Published 2024-08-04
While everyone is looking for ways to eat less processed foods that don't require spending all day in the kitchen, you'd be wrong to think that you've got to have expensive kitchen equipment to get those kinds of results. In this video, I'm sharing how I leverage the grocery store, and what's growing in my tiny townhouse kitchen garden to stock my pantry full of fresh fruits, vegetables, healthy sports drinks and even cold and flu medicines for the upcoming fall and winter season all without anything "fancy." If you want to learn how to start cooking from scratch, start a preservation pantry, and start reclaiming the ingredients that you want in (and out) of your food, join me for this month's pantry chat!

  • I get so excited every time I see your videos. I learn so much.

You're keeping me company as I can all of the tomatoes I have been sticking in the freezer all season (most of the plants came out today, I'm in Georgia so the blight and pests took over). The next round should be better

Oh cool! Now I have a great preservation idea for the fresh turmeric I’m growing in the garden. Thanks! 👍🏻
  • Did you know that you can get even more jelly out of the pits of cherries, peaches, etc? Jessica at Three Rivers Homestead always gets "free" jelly by doing this.
  • Love your videos! I'm surprised that with all you grow you don't grow your own turmeric so you always have fresh on hand. It's a beautiful plant & very easy to do. Looks like you have a little more room on your deck for a couple more decorative pots that would be just right for ginger & turmeric plants. And, you could bring them inside over the winter. ;) Just get some organic fresh turmeric &/or ginger from your grocery store. Choose some that have little knobs (eyes) on them. You can google for more detailed info. I love looking at my beautiful turmeric/ginger plants. They look so tropical. Thank you for all the great recipes, ideas & tips & hours of videos you have provided us!
  • Cassandra you are ahead of the curve. I need some peach bourbon and blueberry syrup for Christmas gifts. Yummy. Everything you make looks delicious. Thanks as always.
  • “Center your kids” girl. Every single time I’m done canning I realize my lids aren’t even and it makes me crazy 🤣😅 I will never remember my gosh
  • @msbuttafly112
Cassandra, I just love how easy you make everything look! Great video! ❤️🦋
  • @ronm6585
Thank you Cassandra. I did not know you could make all these medicines at home. Cheers.
  • I've never comment 😢, but I have to tell you this video was full of great recipes. Thank you

Oh, this food looks good! That blueberry syrup/butter recipe has been one I’ve been canning since my first year of learning this skill, it’s sooo good. I love your idea of using the syrup to sweeten up the herbal remedies. Also, I recently experimented with using blueberry butter in place of frozen blueberries in a whole wheat muffin recipe. I did cut the sugar in the batter back, and it turned out sooo good. Thanks for keeping me company while I cooked dinner — I improvised it tonight and it actually worked, and you get a lot of the credit for making me feel like cooking without a recipe is doable for me.

Thank you so much for the wealth of health tonics in this video, l am really going to make them. Especially now since the dollar tree was those glass vinaigrette bottles.
