I have them as well and i went to a lot of doctors and had retina tests done and all is fine (only floaters) but i was SO scared about the flashes and taught something HAD to be seriously wrong. I actually cried watched this These floaters have ruined my life to the extent am always indoors . People think im antisocial. It has affected my studies. I cant even take pictures anymore. I literally look down wen walking on the street i can't look at walls or the sky.The kind of floaters i have are many tiny dots which seems to dart around with big dark ones in my right eye. I am heavily depressed and tired of living with them

Thanks for your initial assessmsnt and this follow-up. I developed floaters post cataract/IOL surgery. I have located a surgeon who specializes in vitrectomy and performs over 400 procedures @year. Your feedback has helped considerably in my decision process. Good Luck!

Vitrectomy for both eyes was life changing. Glad it worked out for this man as it did for me. Go to a retina specialist who will screen out unrealistic patients and one who does a LOT of retina surgeries. Mine was done at Wills Eye and I can't say enough about how outstanding they were in every way.
  • Congrats that your surgery was successful. For such a young man, you are very wise and provide great advice based on your experience. Thank you….

Thank you for sharing. I had no idea about floaters until I got one. They can eat up your life because they are always there.

Thank you a lot for this video. I actually have a lot of floaters in my both eyes, some are black, some are transparents and was wondering for this surgery. And maybe considering it as it has an impact on my daily life mood especially during anxious time (work stress, etc). I don’t known they did suddenly appearing on my eyes one day. But all the eye Dr. said that my eyes was in good condition (retina etc) and could not find something. I’m 32 now. Still young. But it feels like my eye are way older than me.

I’m hoping to hold out as long as I can for medical advancements, like non invasive lasers that blast them away, or some sort of medication that dissolves them. My anxiety goes through the roof sometimes and I notice them more, which causes more anxiety, etc…. Thanks for going through this and sharing!
  • Thanks for this. I watched your 3mo and this one, and like you I've had floaters since I was 25 but nothing near what you had. They didn't bother me too much and I lived with them for 35 years. A few years ago, I had a PVD in both eyes and my floaters got much worse and are now hard to ignore. I've been dealing with them for about 3 years now. I think I'm going to continue to do research and try and hold out for better technology, but I really want to get the surgery. Thanks for the updates.
  • Thank you for the update. I've been kicking around the idea of a vitrectomy for years. I'm afraid the doctor I have picked out will retire and I'll be back to square one.
  • Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and covering all the points... I am soo happy for you.... Keep us updated even in the future...

I got a detached Retina. 03/23/23 is when i went in for Surgery, two days after I was diagnosed. I have the gas bubble in my eye. We'll see how I am 2 months from post surgery. Important; soon as I noticed something was wrong, i went in to see a Retina specialist.
