Here’s our review of the brand new Pokemon Legends Arceus on Nintendo Switch. Apologies about the delay had to get to the end of the story (20 hours) before making this one and honestly it’s quite nice to not have the same pre release embargo conditions. Some of the items I talk about weren’t allowed in the pre release period. Have you picked it up or are you considering it? Here are my thoughts! #PokemonArceus #Switch #Review

Update: You can currently pick it up for £39.99 at Currys here in the UK and cheaper than RRP in US as well. Aside from my pronunciation of Arceus changing every five minutes, how did you find this one? Are you enjoying the game and hopefully this was of some use! That pun though, I am so sorry! Mark

Personally I really like the direction this has gone in with the RPG elements it makes it feel fresh rather than that of the same old of the last 25 years, that's my opinion
  • This is the BEST review I’ve seen about this game! You totally captured the good and the bad without having to trashing it down. For me this is a completely different Pokémon experience. With some work on the graphics department, voiceovers and some refinement on the story line, I think this can be HUGE! But honestly I’m quite happy I bought it. Super fluid, you can just go out and about catching your Pokémon in a more personal way I think! Must buy IMO

Great review, friends! I’m about 15 hours in. This is the most fun I’ve had with a Pokémon game in years and years. I’m really hoping this is just the groundwork for what Gen 9 will be. Give me this style with towns, gyms, trainers, new Pokémon, etc… and I might cry. The capture mechanic and exploration are glorious. Even the side quests and extra bits are fun (trees, rocks, crafting, ranks, etc…). Super impressed with this game. And it’s only the beginning.

I have been waiting on this review to decide. Always so honest. Think I’m going to buy as it seems like a chill game

In all my [REDACTED] years of playing Nintendo, this is the first Pokemon game to even vaguely appeal to me. Which is a good thing, I think (?) Love the idea of the "Lost Satchel" It's like in Dragons Dogma, when you can give a gift to someones pawn

I’m still quite early in my gameplay time. But from what I’ve seen so far I’m enjoying the game. Like I’ve seen someone else say in this comment section. This game is a solid blueprint for future games. Laid a solid foundation if you will. This game has done many things right and many things it so right. I think this game would have been better if it was worked on for another year. Even if to just optimize and polish some things. Ultimately I hope they make more of this type of game in the future. Take what worked well with this game and fix/adjust things that are not working as well. Thanks for the review SwitchUp. And to Those who try this game I hope you can find at least some fun and enjoyment in this game.

Well as usual I find myself agreeing with most of this review, you guys are very objective and that is one of the reasons I am subbed. As far as the visuals go I found bumping down the sharpness on my tv helps. Pokémon feels refreshed with this title and the adult me and my daughter of 8 are both having a wonderful time and can both play it our own individual way!! Cheers!

I’m busy now, but popping in to boost that algo. Lots of us were looking forward to this review from you all, thanks for getting it out so quickly! 🙌🏽

This was a really well done, straight forward review. Thank you for treating this as a game, not with any special fanfare. Even though we know it has it ;). I picked it up on release day and have to add the note that it seemed like the game store I preordered from (Won’t name any names, just gonna Stop it here) ran out of the preorder bonuses! Tons of disappointed fans :(. Nothing to do with the game or anything. But an important note. As if this had been a mainline entry I gaurunteenthey would have had extras of the stuff! Luckily I did get my art cards. And they are very cool. Thanks again for this video!
  • @dabestspaceman
I’m really interested in the changes to battle mechanics alongside managing your Pokémon’s evolutions and moves it definitely makes things more interesting. I hope they end up adding them to mainline Pokémon games in some shape or form
  • Funnily enough for me I wasn’t very interested in this at first. I picked it up on a whim and have almost 10 hours in it in 2 days… I’m practically addicted to it. I find it very relaxing as well to just roam around and catch the mon. I also enjoy the art style. Yes some thing look dated, however I’ve never played Pokémon for graphical fidelity. I do wish they would bring in voice actors though.

As someone who no lifed blue as a teen and haven’t been excited about Pokémon since then, I’m so hyped on this game it feels so good to enjoy a Pokémon game again. Really hoping this is the new foundation and hoping for dlc with a new area and a bunch of new/old Pokémon to add. The visuals leave a lot to be desired but the core gameplay and exploration is there and that’s why I play video games. If it looked like BotW that would be so awesome!!!! Here’s to the future of Pokémon and as always great review. See ya 🤗

Great review! I actually went right from Brilliant Diamond into Arceus, and a half dozen or so hours in, I'm enjoying Arceus way more. It's a lot of little things that are lending to that enjoyment. Movement throughout the world. The seamless switching between catching and battling. The overall feel of said catching and battling. Being in wide open environments where you actually see the Pokemon milling about, meaning no more random encounters and wasting time running around grass hoping to find the 'mon you're looking for. The un-intrusive material collection and being able to craft from the field. Being able to swap out moves on your Pokemon at-will (no more "forgetting"). Quest organization and being able to toggle "guidance" (the game's term for a waypoint marker). The characters, story and world are far more interesting to me in general.  In the interest of disclosure, I have no nostalgia for the series' roots. My first game was Soul Silver, and the only others I've played are X, Let's Go Pikachu, Sword, and Brilliant Diamond. I know this will be an unpopular opinion with long-time die-hard Pokemon fans, but I'd be totally fine with future Pokemon games adopting this game's structure and mechanics. The series needs to evolve and Arceus is a good start.

I’ve never played a Pokémon game (outside of Snap), I even got Sword but just couldn’t get into it. I’ve been on the fence about this game, but this metered review has convinced me to grab it, at least if/when it goes on sale. Def always appreciate you guys looking at each game for what it is. I’m sure it’s easy to phone it in with the big franchises and I see it all the time with other reviewers, ie “it’s not that great but it’s Mario so 10/10!” This is THE channel I come to when I’m looking for a real, honest review. Cheers y’all 👍🏻
  • @DanCarnellious
Great review guys! Im only a handful of hours in so had to pop headphones in and just listen to this one to avoid spoilery footage. I just find it a delight to listen to your guys take on games and such honest and open reviews! I am loving the game so far and it really feels fresh.
  • @jordanlane8699
Great review Mark! The note about being afraid to use consumables really resonates with me. Built up over decades of rpg playing. Also the note about it being quite relaxing… bang on. I think I’ll be sinking tons of time into this game because of its mix of addictive catching and relaxing “at whatever pace you want” game play. I think this is a great game and a solid evolution for the series. And while the graphics aren’t incredible I quite like the style.
  • @TheRealAero
To me, this is a good blueprint, as long as gamefreak takes things that worked and adds on, the legends series could become the staple for Pokémon
  • @posthuman84
This is the review I’ve been waiting for. I’m definitely gonna pick this game up, but I’ll probably wait until I’ve finished SMT V
  • @mdl102488
I got arceus and I love the way they gave it a freshness. When I already have a game and you review it I just watch it anyways to support. Cheers mate
