When Led Zeppelin heard that they were being honored, they invited Jason Bonham to be with them in the honorees section. He turned them down because he said that he had a previous engagement. Little did they know that the previous engagement was playing with Heart, to honor them.

🔥🔥🔥She was 62 when she did this performance. Greatest female rock vocalist of all time imo.
  • @hlawrencepowell
They are not rainbows. They are Kennedy Center Honours medals.
  • @laurarader6846
It's an honorary medal with a sash that the band members of Led Zeppelin received and are wearing. It's the Kennedy Center Awards
  • @ellenjones7819
Led Zeppelin is wearing the "rainbow" ribbons because they are Kennedy Center honorees. The colors represent many skills within the performing arts, such as music, dance, acting, etc.
  • The Kennedy Center does the honors ceremony annually to honor folks who have made great contributions to performing arts. Led Zeppelin are the older men wearing the ribbons. All the honorees receive the ribbons. I cry evey time i listen to this performance.
  • It is the members of the band. They're being honoured at The Kennedy Centre. The rainbows are the medals they received. The drummer Jason Bonham is the son of Led Zeppelin's original drummer, John Bonham, who's signature hat was a bowler. At the end, Jason looks up the the sky thinking of his father who died young.

I think of the lead guitarist..... "So, you got the gig, dude. You'll be playing with Anne and Nancy Wilson (no pressure, man)." "You're gonna play the Kennedy Center so the President will be there, too.....along with a few legendary musicians." "You're gonna play 'Stairway' for Led Zeppelin. They'll be there so you better rehearse the solo. Oh yeah.....don't fuck up". Not the LEAST bit of pressure!

Robert Plant (seated in the middle) & their late drummer John Bonham (his son Jason is playing his father's drum kit) were the closest members of the band. They pretty much grew up together living just 30 miles apart. It was an emotional performance.but,Robert shed tears mainly because John wasn't there to celebrate with them. After John's death it took 8 yrs for Robert to sing Stairway to Heaven again
  • @RLG-
The original drummer, John Bonham, was known to wear bowler hats during performances. The choir and his son wearing the hats was a tribute to John. He couldn't be there in person, but he was honored and not forgotten. This is one of the reasons Robert Plant was crying.
  • @MrBobNLinda
You nailed it !!! The closeups were all of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. The original drummer has passed away, and his son, Jason Bonham is playing drums for this event.
  • @dishwaterhands
The Asian guy in the audience they showed a few reaction shots of is Yoyo Ma, a famous classical cellist.
  • @markr878
So the 3 'old men' were the remaining members of Led Zeppelin. The drummer is Jason Bonham, his father (deceased) was Led Zeppelin's drummer. When he died (way to young) Led Zeppelin split up as a band. Though they did reform for a one off concert with Jason on drums.
  • For the love of God. It is Led Zeppelin and the are being awarded which explains the rainbow awards and yes he is crying. Heart did them awesome
  • @SUNSHINE-dm3le
No woman out there can do what they do … these women are AMAZING.. always have been … these singers today can’t hold a candle 🕯️ to them … PERFECTION
  • @Penddraig7
The rainbow lanyard is worn by those getting honoured in the Kennedy Centre Honours which is an annual honours ceremony for people in the performing arts and the rainbow is meant to represent the spectrum of arts within the performing arts umbrella Each year 5 recipients get honoured and this was from the 2012 gala event which honoured Led Zeppelin, David Letterman, Buddy Guy, Dustin Hoffman and Natalia Makarova Buddy Guy was the guy who The Big Push covered What kind of woman is this from which you reacted to. The drummer is Jason Bonham who is the son of John Bonham who was the drummer for Led Zeppelin and died in 1980
  • @swanketees
Heart was a Led Zeppelin cover band before they started doing their own music. Incredible. Ann has one of the top rock vocals in history.
  • @sukioki6983
This was "The Kennedy Center Honors". Every year 4 artists (music, dance, art) get honored. They sit in the sky boxes with the current President and people go on stage and honor them. This is a huge honor for them
  • @renegonzalez8612
The One and Only LED ZEPPELIN Sitting there deserving every bit of their tribute!!!!
