In 2008, Micheal Bay released his first transformers film, which were the first time audiences had seen these characters on the big screen. However, unlike the cartoon and toys, bay approached the look of the transformers much differently then fans had come to expect. Creating both cautious intrigue from those who were curoisue about the redesigns, but also anger from those who wished for the original G1 designs to be translated to the big screen. Unfortunately, Micheal Bay felt the g1 designs would look stupid in live action, so for years fans could only dream about how they’d look within our reality. Luckily Travis Knight and Steven caple jr would answer their wish with the release of bumblebee and Transformers rise of the beast which offer more accurate Gen 1 designs of the characters.

I agree with people disliking the Bay films, but you shouldn't wish for him to die in a fire.

One thing to add is that apparently the Cybertron scene on Bumblebee was apparently made last minute since beforehand because Bumblebee was meant to be a prequel but then the last knight happened and re-shoots and it ended up being a reboot.  Megatron was supposedly going to have 2 scenes, one Cybertron and in the post credits where is frozen in the ice at Sector 7.

Imagine sending death threats over your fictional sentient robot getting its design changed from essentially a bunch of squares to something perhaps more real.
  • @NICK349B
From Bumblebee onward it’s a reboot, don’t listen to Lorenzo DiBoneventura (The producer of the live-action films)

They really should have kept Travis Knight for future movies instead of replacing him. His designs are so much better than anything in Rise of the beasts.

Bro people need to chill these are fictional characters just because you don't like how they look doesn't give you an excuse to threaten someones life
  • @mustard3331
The first movie was actually released in 2007 not 2008😂
  • Travis knight will always be a legend. He truly understands what the transformers are.
  • Paramount shouldn't complicate things and just make the Knight continuity a full blown reboot.
  • When you said Bays transformation scenes got lazy I immediately thought about that Megatron transformation in 5 as well😂

If We had a Transfomers Movie about the first 5 mins of Bumblebee 2018, we were robbed
  • I grew up with the Transformers movie's and got into the franchise because of them (Movie's,Shows,Comic's and toy's)But after all that and watching Bumblebee 2018, It became clear that in order for the franchise to keep going and stay fresh in relevant in movie form it needs different directors and writers that are fan's of the source material and can bring new ideas to the table
  • It’s a shame because of Lorenzo we never got to see that planned opening scene of Megatron in the Bumblebee movie which would have been awesome to see we, oh well at least we have the studio series concept art figure for it.

Bayverse has nothing to do with Bumblebee and ROTB continuity wise.
  • @moza5900
Bayverse design is indeed realistic, a huge planet that can still sustain life and existing for billion of years will make the species evolved till reaching the potential of being mechanical indicating it's evolution. Returning to it being a huge planet, bigger than Earth means they look differently when they were fleshes and less humanoid unlike G1 they are mostly inspired by human form which is really unrealistic interms of science evolution.
  • Travis Knight did the G1 designs justice whilst keeping the realism!
  • Bumblebee 2018 and Transfomers Rise of the Beasts 2023 are in a reboot universe, everyone accepts that besides the main producer of the series

I love seeing bayverse design elements still being used in the newer films. Like ROTB prime, it had bits of the og trilogy look like the face, truck eyebrows on the chest, silver hands, and energon blades and axe. I think ROTB prime is the best live action prime design because of the mix of g1 and bayverse deisgn elements
  • Idgaf I loved Michael Bay's films bc they were my first introduction to Transformers They do action well Better than most hollywood movies I recognize its shortcomings ofc But i love them for what they did offer
