In this rant i explain why i hated working at UPS as a Driver. I started in 1995 as a preloader. I switched shifts a few times while waiting for a driver position to open up. In the years leading up to becoming a full time UPS driver, i worked also on the local sort, car wash and was a Saturday Air Driver. After approx 6 six years of part time work i gained enough seniority to become full time. This rant is one of many glimpses inside the reality of working for UPS. There is way more to it and also every building runs different. Some people love working for UPS and i totally understand that. I also use to love it until all of the crackdowns on telematics , orion system etc. Please check us out on my main channel if you want full live shows or more content.

  • LMAO! This has become total hilarity..it’s so polarizing how blatant it is by the differences in responses that the trolls that talk crap are the ones that have the most miserable lives in the world but are stuck..in debt..no way out..not smart enough to replace a terrible job..I have had the best laughs of my life at this thread..to the people to know and admit the reality..you are the ones capable of leaving and making more money with less hours..I did it..it’s very easy. I’m home every single day. I leave my family maybe 10 hours a week now working for myself and blow the UPS money out of the water..
  • I've missed a lot while driving for UPS. But I've also worked harder for a lot less. I'm grateful for this job and I am blessed to provide for my family with the pay and benefits they provide. But if we ever lose the union I'll be looking for another job

Started as a 22.4 in May 2021 in Virginia. Start time is 9am. Drive out of the building by 9:15-9:30. On a good day I’ll get back no later than 6:30. On a rough day 7-8pm And that’s usually on Wednesday or Thursday. I enjoy it but it does take a lot out of me. On weekends I be just wanting to relax. I’m 26 with no kids and hard work doesn’t bother me. I’m gonna drive for 3-7 years and if I’m not feeder then I will get into management.
  • I’m supposed to start Monday for feeder driver now not sure if it’s worth it. All the hoops to jump through and let you go in mid January.

I just started as a USPS city carrier, and it's 10 hrs/day, 6 days per week. I don't know anyone there done at 1430.

They hired me off the street as a driver full time, people who were in my class all got to go driving while I was stuck in the warehouse with my uniform at home collecting dust. Filed grievances, talked to different driving managers never seemed like I would get the job I always wanted to do. Horrible experience with this company.

I actually wanted to be a ups driver because of the pay. But I found out how much they worked and automatically changed my mind. My personal time is very important to me. Also I heard you have to work in the warehouse to even be considered for a driver position.
  • I’m a RPCD and I love the job..it has its days and peak can be miserable but it’s a good job that pays well. Before UPS I worked delivering for foodservice companies, 4-5 days a week 10-16 hours a day, rolling 1500 cases a day off a ramp on a handtruck…that’s hard work..that job sucks
  • @bear1830
Absolutely best decision of my life was quitting UPS for my current job. No mandatory overtime after an outrageous hours already put in, I work 7 to 3 Monday/Friday, as good benefits and weekends off.

All true. I don’t ever see my family during the year but for maybe an hour or so at night. During the holidays I’ll go 5 weeks straight of seeing my wife and daughter for 15 minutes in the morning before work. They’re long sleeping when I get home.
  • He must didn't work there long even tho it gets busy sometimes, that's just as a 22-4.. once u get your time in , you eventually get assigned a route and they plan your route to be done in or about 8 hours....if you go over 8 hours, you begin getting paid DOUBLE TIME... 🤷🏾‍♂️. .. SO true enough u may have to buss your ass for about a year or 2 but its an investment for a better life .. it will eventually iron out to a regular work schedule like any other job once u become a Full-time driver with seniority

I had an interview with ups but I've been looking up videos about how much they work sometimes 6 days out the week. The pay would've been 28 dollars an hour starting but I don't know. I worked for Walmart at one of the warehouses and the pay and benefits were great but they worked us to death and the mandatory overtime was ridiculous. Since I was new they forced all the new people to come in for mandatory overtime. I have a feeling it will be the same with ups great pay but not worth it. I'll stick with my interview as a flight attendant over the ups
  • @filoIII
The regulars been working overtime EVERY week for a year there, and the USPS in general has a MAJOR shortage of workers.

Unfortunately this has become a way of life working for any large corporation. I worked for a very large Corp. for 40 years. The first 30 weren’t too bad. The last 10 is when everyone started the micro-management crap. If you want to avoid it, better dream up your own thing.
  • I’m a driver and really on the side of quitting. Let me know what I should do . 29 and no kids
  • @Corn_Fed_Beef
It's not nearly as much money but I think I'm going to stick to my Amazon step van job. Guaranteed 10 hours if I finish early, no pickups, 3-day weekends. Yeah the pay benefits isn't great but at least I still have my sanity.
