If you're a controller user on Gran Turismo 7, you're at a disadvantage in slow corners because of the steering input filtering in the game. In this video I'll show you how to get around it and keep up with steering wheel drivers!

If you want to see more videos like these deep diving features in the game, let me know in the comments!

So happy to hear someone else is bringing up the steering problem in the controllers! I was getting so sick of being gas-lit by people online saying I "just needed to get better" lmao
  • @jmodsbricks
I thought my controller was broken, glad other people have experienced this
  • @guitarsimon1
This video was extremely validating, thank you, I’ve been really surprised at the amount of consistent understeer in almost every car, so this is super helpful.

it's funny you mention this about slow corners. I actually thought this was very weird but I thought it was just me. Because I play so many dirt games I naturally just started using the handbrake to compensate and it worked. thank you for making this video and bringing this to light I know that making these videos is a lot of work!

New to GT & I’m so pleased to see this video & see that others have had issues with the steering whilst playing on controller!
  • @dustmighte
Very nice video - well structured, covering all the points. Well done, subscribed.

I've been experimenting with a similar concept on FWD cars. while trailbraking, I give it a little throttle to cancel out the braking force on the front wheels, allowing the front wheels to fully focus on turning the car rather than slowing it down. the rear wheels will still be braking, so the weight balance will be towards the front like in normal trailbraking. if the trailbraking is too strong, I get a little oversteer which could be useful sometimes. this is useful in both long and tight corners like the handbrake method, but with more control over brake force. a work-in-progress theory that I'm not sure how to test is that if my front wheels are accelerating while doing this, it may actually be helping rotate the car in that direction. all of this was inspired by that stupid video of a yellow civic parallel parking by doing a burnout and handbrake pulled

Great that you thought of the controller players, well done.
  • @distillion
This is one thing I've been struggling with. Will give this a shot. Thnx. 👌
  • @DILUSI
Iv been doing this for gt generations and honestly thought everyone knew about this technique, good for sharing 👌
  • @Luis-jr3nt
I subbed because of the physics lecture on the suspension tuning video. I use to do this out of panic sometimes back in the Forza Motorsport 2 days, I'm glad I was onto something
  • Thank you!!! That's exactly where I'm losing time on the deep forest daily race... that Herpin kill me all the time..
  • @RicQuintanilla
yep, thats a technique that i have used i think since gt2 or 3. i've only used a controller, and giving a flick to the ebrake helps rotate the car. also messing with heavy rear brake bias, and front and rear toe. but like you said, timing and amount is key. great video on how to use it.
  • I tried this in gt sport but I found the car oversteering too much, causing me to spin out. Wow! So much faster in your timing. I will employ this in GT7 with this tutorial 👍🏻 Thanks bro
  • @CPMotors814
Video is good as always and what you're doing is very much a real world use technique 👊🏻
  • @ImBazmando
I used the handbrake on controller around Tsukuba in the Moby Dick mission, especially in the hairpins. I noticed it made a huge difference. Glad its been highlighted.
  • @Forzadave
Definitely going to try this. Thanks man.
  • @dcchillin4687
I'm trying to learn no assist and manual transmission driving after playing since gt2. It took me a solid 2 days before I could even complete a lap and cranking controller sensitivity to max was one of the first things I did. Have to give this a shot!

I was trying to find out why the steering was so awkward in GT7, glad that I stumbled upon this excellent video. I don't understand why this bug can even pass through QA... And honestly, that rear wheel traction modeling is so broken in GT7, it felt backwards when compared to GT Sports
