MOUNT LITTLE STATION - Flinders Ranges With Self Drive A 4WD Loop.

Published 2024-07-14
I begin Ep 1, solo camping at South Australia's Mount Little Station in the Flinders Ranges, and exploring the self drive 4WD tracks.
Mount Little Station was a highly recommended farm stay during my two weeks off grid in Out Back, South Australia.

I spent three days base camping with my off road camper trailer on a high elevation spot with stunning elevated views across the station and over to Mount Little , the highest peak on the station.

During my South Australian outback farm stays adventure i have explored a self drive 4WD loop, and rode around on my mountain bike. It was a great few days.

The drive to the summit of Mount Little at around 360 meters above sea level, is so worth the drive up. 4WD ONLY for this self drive loop.
Stunning views that go on for ever in a 360 degree circle.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time camping at Mount Little Station.
It was very relaxing sitting around camp, and cooking up a few meals on the campfire while taking in those stunning views.

I hope that you enjoy the first episode from my Flinders Ranges adventure.
I will be staying on three Flinders Ranges farm stays over the two weeks while i am camping in the Flinders Ranges.

Thank you for watching this video from my time in South Australia on Mount Little Station.

I’m devastated your wooden handle frying pan has been decommissioned, I got one the same haha , love your videos Tim , you do it like my lady and I, relax and take it all in, drive /ride look, and cook.

Looks like you are having a great time on your travels. You said “Old school cooking with old school gear” which is true, because it works. If I am out camping it’s always amusing to see how many people turn up with brand new never used kit (not even tried out at home). We have a saying here “all the gear and no idea”.

That landscape is amazing, on my bucket list before i fall off me perch hopefully. I betcha lovin that camper trailer. Look forward to the next one Timbo.
  • Looks like good exploring country, good how the camp spots are spaced apart, your absolutely right about not needing all the 1st world shit, induction/inverter/coffee machine

Hi Tim. Well thats a nice place. I was thinking about the trowel for a long time now lol. Then you tell the story about it now I know. Cheers John from Gold Coast.
  • Another great video, Tim. Was also devastated thinking your big frying pan had been retired, but I see in another comment that it’s still in one piece, you just didn’t bring it along with you on this trip :) It’s 45-48C and humid here in the UAE, so no camping during the summer, but I’ll be taking the Troopy to camp up high in the mountains of Oman for a few nights in August. Since watching your videos I’ve learnt to slow down and enjoy things a bit more when camping, so I’ll say cheers to you from Jebel Akhdar in a few nights' time.

I love the trowel. The trowel is brilliant with a great story behind it.
  • Cracken video Tim , You can pretty much put anything in a Jaffel mate , but I reakon the secret is the amount of butter on the outside 👍
  • Nice place mate ! The utter quiet is quite amazing mate. Lol i have and still use my fathers round jaffle iron mate . Must be at least 40 plus years old and works a treat. Had to laugh to see you do as i do making the javs as we call them and cutting off the edges to leave you with that nice round sealed jav . Thanks for your efforts and great content . 🤠👌

Another awsome vid Timmy! Have a little variation to your bacon and egg breaky, toast yourself up 2 hashbrowns, 2 eggs and some bacon, roll it up in a wrap with some cheese and some bbq sauce and throw it back on the pan to toast the wrap and melt the cheese 👌👌 give it a go mate
  • I agree with all the positive comments, great video. This might be a polarising comment, l use Lard for frying, makes everything tastier.
  • Thanks Tim , really enjoyed the video . What a great place to visit . Love the old round jaffa iron a lot better than the new ones . Keep ‘em coming ! 👍👍🍻🍻

Another amazing location in Australia to add to my bucket list. I had a feeling you had worked in some type of skilled trade because of how prepared you are on every trip, but I never would've guessed bricklaying. Even without the attached story, using a trowel with the tip cut off to flip whatever you cook in the frying pan or whatever you want to use makes sense because there's no holes for things that add flavor to fall through and get burned. If I was as good at putting information packets together as they are, I'd make it my full-time job. I've heard that pizza cooked in a brick oven is good, but I don't recall if I've ever had any. The peace and quiet in a camping location is something more places in the US need, especially in the South. Just because the cooking appliance is old doesn't mean it doesn't work well for its intended purpose, and some of those older things work better than the fancy new ones you can buy at the local store. Looking forward to more adventures you have in the Outback. Cheers, Colton
